When people use toon, i can't help but make a face. It'll always sound ridiculous to me.

I honestly didn't care, face it... you know what they are talking about so what does it matter. Then all of the elitist snobbery and moaning started... now, forever more... toons.
I find it highly amusing that the same people who cant tell the difference between your, you're, were, we're, there, their, they're and finally my all time favourite... are and our (seriously?) are the ones making the most stink about toons and characters.
To answer an earlier question "why toons" it derives from characters... as in "cartoon character" thus: "Toon"
Character. I don't know what my aversion to toon is, but for whatever reason, its cringe worthy.
I always called them characters since the days of UO. I've taken to calling them toons out of spite after being in the beta and seeing how ridiculously stupid people get about that term being used.
Toon (n) - A character in an animated cartoon
Animated cartoon (n) - a motion picture consisting of a sequence of drawings, each so slightly different that when filmed and run through a projector the figures seem to move.
Animes are toons!
You! I like you! You're offended at toon but not at calling someone a retard? Lovely.
I'd like to tell you I'm offended by your butchering of basic grammar or by your use of the aforementioned word, but I'm not. The reason is that I don't place stock in the nomenclature used by anonymous internet forum members in reference to an avatar in an imaginary world. It's called being an adult. With that in mind, I'll be using toon strictly out of spite and snarkiness from this point forward.

Except you know what Zehira is referring to. Cartoon (in this case toon) is mainly known as the more American style for animation, while anime is the Japanese one. It has a lot to do with the proportions and body types.I always called them characters since the days of UO. I've taken to calling them toons out of spite after being in the beta and seeing how ridiculously stupid people get about that term being used.

Character for sure, toon or avatar sounds weird to hear or say.
LOL... Toon?

Char or character. Toon always sounded strange to me.
Anyone else wonder what Moogle tastes like?
Character because 'toon' sounds stupid.

I don't know about you but whenever I look at those characters, they look more anime than toon.
