Akiza, I like those ideas (mainly because it's like a call-back to ffxi), but that seems a little too powerful if we're also doing the massive amount of damage that we're doing already haha.

We do a massive amount of damage but with a slow ramp up compared to other classes and we don't have much in the way of burst aoe damage so summoning Esper versions of the Primals won't make us that much more powerful than a Black Mage and other damage dealears. Espers would be a support AOE Burst and party synergy pet making the Summoner a Damage Over time job with AOE Burst Damage like the iconic Summoners before FFX.
I for one appreciate the lack of burst damage, both ST and especially for AoE. It is what sets us apart from other classes, and is probably a contributing factor in avoiding the nerfhammer. I personally see no reason at all to give SMN more burst damage potential.
IT's not like we can't burst with Fester/Enkindle, anyways.
I hit a 3.7k Fester on Asclepius last night. It was pretty awesome.
Edit: FR was not BV'd, so that's at least a 4.1k crit with it.
I guess in context, it would be burst compared to BLM/BRD/etc. Fester has some lead time, and/or requires anticipation and preparation. Enkindle is a little Burst, or requires 2 other cooldowns to be used in conjunction.
I hit a 4.1k fester on Asclepius last night. Was so proud. Told my FC, they couldn't care less. :P
I like the Burst we do have. It isn't much, it isn't sustainable or frequently repeatable. In terms of things to write home to mom about the class, burst damage would fit in the foot notes. The ramp up time, the long burst cooldowns, these are the things that keep things more balanced than not.
I guess the point I was going to make is that we don't need _more_ burst, not that we don't have any at all.
