    Bane -

    Bane is pretty nice in the right situations. However, its range is not so effective in large AOE situations because its range is small.

    Its range is 5 yards. I think it would be more effective at 10 or even 15 yards. That way it will allow us to have a AOE dot effect without having to cast bane multiple times . (not to mention we run out of aetherflow).

    Personally I don't want extreme changes for summoner as saltz said bane could have a small range increase. As I keep saying my problem with the summoner is the pets the pets should be the main show of the class not the DOTS. The pets need to be tweaked and the cooldown on enkindle.

    They really need to increase the aoe range on both bane and Enkindle. 5yd? really? Can't count how many times I've missed mobs with dots/dmg because the aoe range on Bane/Enkindle is so tiny. 10yd or perhaps 15yd would be nice.
    Also the cd on Enkindle seems far to high considering how little dmg it actually does.
    And yes we can compare Enkindle to Flare. Since they are both Lv50 spells, except that one of them can be casted over and over again(convert, elxir, ether etc), and does more dmg, where the other one got neither and 300sec cd.

    I definitely agree with this point. The pets are clearly the focus of the Summoner class and should be held as such. If people want a DOT only class, they can go and play Shadow Priest on WoW.

    On a somewhat related topic, I really want the sizes of the pets to be more menacing. Sure they're about the right size for a Lalafel, but if a Highlander summons an ifrit and it's not event half the size of the Highlander, it takes away from the impact of summoning something so... awesome.

    I never liked the idea of this class being a DoT class. Those actions should have been direct commands for your summon with their nature and abilities changing per summon.

    I can understand your feeling of not wanting to be DoT class. SMN in ffxiv arr is nothing like SMN from ffxi online so if you are used to the old SMN then yes that's a huge change on gameplay. I don't think SE is going to rework the class that way, the most they will do is tweak some actions. Personally, I prefer the old SMN. But this is a different game.
    On the side note, I really do want Beastmaster but I don't think it's going to work well in this game considering mobs are weak. It's not like the old game where you need party to get exp or do a beastmaster or do ninja/redmage or dragoon/whitemage to solo. Beastmaster was the best for solo leveling and the most fun for me due to adrenaline rush I get and the fact that it requires focus. And I am talking about ffxi online before they water it down to compete it with world of warcraft.

    Well I'm only 40 but I have noticed a few things that need to be looked at.

    -Allow control of pets while casting.
    -Some kind of burst damage. DoT is great for the big boss but when you have kill adds quickly, Sunken Temple, we need a little extra. Maybe ability that would increase dps output of either mage or pet for 20s or something.

    The fact that I can't tell my pet what to do in the middle of a long cast time drives me up the wall. That is the PERFECT time to be commanding it to change targets, move, whatever, instead of staring at the cast bar and drumming my feet on the floor.     I also agree with this. Hitting adds with bane (I don't have enkindle yet) off a boss is hit or miss, if the boss's hitbox is really big. Heck, I can't even always hit all the mobs in a dungeon pack that my bf is tanking (he's a Roegadyn) because his character is so big. 15 yards seems excessive (pvp I can see a lot of people complaining) but 10 would be good.

    I agree with whoever said make the pets passive on mounting. PLEASE do this or make them do the disappear/reappear thing that minions do when you mount.
