    Actually I just thought of something interesting. What if they made the egis get slightly stronger when you beat their extreme versions?     And that's why I'm saying enkindle should be on a 3min cd. It would make it have similar use to Flare at that point. Reason I say this is for a BLM to optimize the use of flare and their dps on any important fight, they will NOT use flare unless their convert is up which has a 3min cd. To then also make it more comparable to flare, it should have around 50 more potency. I think this would be fair.

    As for your other idea, I do like that, but I still think it does not address a problem with SMN: how the other pets are pointless to use in sight of Garuda. which is why their kits need to bring something to the table that is comparable to Garuda's Contagion. I don't want to repost what I said in my earlier posts, but I guess I have to.

    Ifrit:

    Instead of Radiant Shield(dps pet should not get hit) should be an attack that either adds a dot based off the SMNs magic stats OR an attack that reduces the defense of the target hit.

    Garuda:

    I actually hate her knock back, it causes more harm than help. Instead, she should have a party movement speed boost that can be used in combat, lasts 10 seconds with 30-60sec cd(probably 1min)

    Ideas for added pets:

    Ability that adds potency to all applied dots(shiva maybe?)

    Ability that does more damage with more applied dots to the target(similar to fester but all dots not just bio/bio2/miasma, Ramuh maybe?)

    these are just ideas that synergize with us, the SMNs. I still think that seeing as how our pets are more supportive in this game, that they should also do things that help support the party as well

    Ideas:

    maybe shiva(but preferably titan) should grant a barrier that blocks a certain amount of damage to all party members(60sec-180sec cd? depending on how much is blocked). I would rather see her grant additional magic potency, or just potency in general, to all party members(so as to also help healers)

    Ramuh could grant additional critical rating to everyone.

    I'm uncertain as to what Leviathan would do in this game, seeing as the dynamics of mechanics are actually very low.

    sadly i wanted a smn badly in ffxiv and when it came out i was dissapointed a lot, i wanted a summoner not a dot class like spirit master from aion or warlock from wow, i hate those, i wanted my summoner as a final fantasy summoner not a pet class, i wanted him to cast summons as spells, not control them as pets like a hunter, if it is up to me fixing ifrit won't help with anything that i see as a summoner class, fixing bane won't help anything, i just want a full overhaul of this class, i don't know what did the people who made this class smoking, did they ever PLAY ANY FF GAME? did they ever SEE A SUMMONER? i am confused and sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I think, Kevee, that people are used to when a smn does not have all their spells available to them, their summons were more useful at those times. I am sure that you are the kind of player that likes to unlock/master everything in a game, which then makes summons obsolete. However, most players do not do that(though I certainly do). in early gameplay in games that involve summons, using them is actually beneficial. This is what people are pertaining to about summoners and their summons.

    I am ok with how SMN works, I just think that a few changes with the pets is in order to give a reason to use more than just Garuda(as well as enkindle being more viable).

    I think a lot of the issue is also in FFXI for example I used different Avatar depending on my pt situation or situation in general something as simple as having Tian and Ramuh do blunt dmg ergo using them on Bones but using Garuda on mobs that were weak to slashing or switching to Levy on mobs with higher Eva to avoid as many misses from Pred claws etc..This is the richness missing from SMN

    Absolutely Aphrini! this is why I am hoping they'll make these kinds of changes, or something similar to them, so summoner. Yes, the ffxi summoner was considered "weak" simply because of the immense restrictions that was tied to their pet commands; the main reason that they had all the pet actions share 2 cooldown command actions was because if they could spam literally all of their pets attacks and be very overpowered then. I'm not saying FFXIV smn should be a replica of xi with improved mechanics(though I would like this myself, I still accept it for how it is now), but I think the changes I propose would help SMN be more flavorful and help bring it into it's own playstyle and not be a copy/paste of warlock(never played wow myself, couldn't bring myself down to do it).

    This has been bugging me for a while now. Has anyone run into an issue where Bane doesn't spread one of your DoTs? I've noticed it in the past but shrugged it off as me not paying attention to timers enough, but today in AK maybe three or four times the thing would only spread two DoTs (usually it'd ignore Bio but sometimes miasma) even when they all had plenty of time on their duration.

    Yes...this happens to me so much. It always ignores bio, which I cast last. I think it does this because of the stupid .3 server lag thingie. I notice if I wait like..2 seconds or so then Bane, it usually spreads all 3 ; ;

    This is the reason. no matter which DoT you use last(miasma is the fastest, though) you have to wait to Bane. The DoT is not applied as soon as you start the animation or go on CD, it has to finish the animation.

    I mean I feel like I've said this already in other summoner topics but they need to increase pet interaction with summoner and need to make Ifrit vs Garuda a viable debate. They gave melee DPS a damage boost on bosses to make them more viable, they should make the melee pet more viable as well. Levi, Shiva and Ramuh is going to add more diversity, so they need to also prepare for that. Perhaps have bosses where certain damage is more effective than others, and customize pets to have major differences. (Perhaps even allow pets to switch around faster within battle)
