Screen goes black, but can still hear game sounds.

I would often be playing and my screen would flicker and i would get a black screen where i can hear the game but cannot see anything. My GPU is showing 0% useage when this happens and my CPU at normal. No matter what i do i cannot get the game to come back, Any ideas on whats going on? I play in a window cuz the alt tabbing gives a error and game will shut down.

Im running:

Gtx 660
AMD Fx-8320 X8(Oc 4.5ghz)
16GB DDR3 Viper ram

Update your drivers? Or see if the current drivers have issues with your specific card? I had a similar problem before and had to roll back drivers as there was a known issue with my line of card.

Not very helpful, generic answer I know. But maybe you forgot about it? ;P

But have you rolled them back to something prior? I can't give you a good suggestion of what driver. The alt+tab issue is something I've had on prior games. Throw in the driver numbers that's you've tried. Maybe someone can offer you more help. I have a 660 ti and my issues were with league of legends. I'm current using the beta 320.19 drivers with no big issues so far.. I think.

But yeah, there was a version of drivers that were messed for some of the 600 series GPUs.
