I think they allowed for the many people who dont like to be forced in to group play all the time, esp just to defeat bosses etc. So there is allowance for several playing styles and that allows one to enjoy it more. There is no reason one cannot have a friend or a partner come along on quests any time too, they may not be able to help you directly but if they do the conjurer class they can at least heal you and bring you back to life Might be a lot of fun to play that way.
