If this is true there needs to be a way to reset your chocobo's skills. There's no reason anyone should be forced upon a poorly allocated chocobo.Hello,
Your understanding on this is correct. As your companion ranks up you’ll gain SP; however, the amount of SP you receive is limited, so it will not be possible to acquire every skill for all three stances (defender, attack, and healer). With that said, we'd like you to look into how you’d like to specialize your companion and focus on acquiring the skills you need to make that happen.
Because nothing says beloved lifelong companion like wiping what little there is to the thing as if it were a busted laptop.
If nothing else it needs to be anything but convenient to do that, or the system'll be void of the sort of meaning they're trying to invest in it. Not to mention potentially undermine subsequent efforts like say, the promised breeding system for instance.
Or maybe, JUST MAYBE, you shoulda gotten the hint when it said "how you allocate your sp is up to you, be wise about your choices because the decisions are permanent"
Dear god, what more could you possibly need to be careful about your decision?!
The fact that untill you try you don't know how actually effective those tree's are? JUST MAYBE EH.
It's a Chocobo companion... it's there to supplement your abilities so you have an easier time in the solo content (and even then he can't be used for a lot of it.) It doesn't require theory crafting or super smarts to know where your class needs a little help. I can't heal, therefore it's common sense that a chocobo throwing some heals on me would help me immensely, therefore I decided to spec him into heals as I do a good amount of damage on my own.
BUT WAIT, maybe I'm not interested in heals, and just want to kill stuff as quickly as possible, maybe that's my style of play... oh look there's an attacker tree, I should go down that path.
It's a fun companion, not a game changer in any way, no need to treat it like one.
The point is, you don't play just a class. I can clean my arse with a healer chocobo if i play cnj. See where that fails? Even if it's supposed to be an extra, why don't do things right instead of tossing it in your face in a way that smashes against what the game is actually based on? :\ It just feels lazy to me eh, it's not about being a game changer and stuff, even cause it needs ALOT of tweaks in general (it's extremely annoying to pull him out, for a limited amount of time, not being able to mount at all, not ebing able to take on levequest or queue in df and blablabla), it's a very neat idea i'd like them to develope it a bit further. It's a Chocobo companion... it's there to supplement your abilities so you have an easier time in the solo content (and even then he can't be used for a lot of it.) I got my companion unlocked and is now at rank2. I assigned 1 sp to each stance . I've NEVER seen this message that it was permanent. Don't even know where or when it was suppose to displayed...

Are doing fates better to lvl your chocobo, or just killing single mobs 1 by 1. Thx in advance.
Wow, just simply wow... "we'd like you to look into how you’d like to specialize your companion and focus on acquiring the skills you need to make that happen."
I am sure you wont be stuck with a "poorly allocated" chocobo... but one different from me or the next person just a little, im sure they didnt design this so that you either have a God chocobo or a dud...
I like this it finally gives a little room for individuality!
Indeed, being permanent without remedy also forces out creative play and experiment, which is part of the fun of any skill/stat allocation design.
