    Chocobo Companion Question

    *Edit
What I just want to know is if you have to spend ALL your points in one branch to max it out. Seeing as the last ability costs 10 sp to get and that is the highest rank that would mean you would need to spend all of the sp allotted from the highest rank to achieve the maximum specialization in one area. Knowing this, it is poor design not to let the player mess around and try out different specializations before they commit to the entirety of a branch if you want all tank, healer, or DD.

For the people who say "stop whining, you were told!" this still doesn't deny the fact that you will be going in blindly to each spec, no one knows how truly effective each one is until it's said and done. Re-specialization NEEDS to be an option.

I posted a thread about this on the "New Players" help board but it wasn't adequately answered so I figure since most people go here, my chances of an answer are higher. Anyways, when you look at the active help for the chocobo companion skill progression it says something like:

"how you allocate your sp is up to you, be wise about your choices because the decisions are permanent"

Looking at this it seems too vague but implies that you will ultimately have an insufficient amount of sp to fill out ALL the skills and traits for your companion. If this is the case then what is my total possible sp gain? If I can't reallocate my sp then it seems like it would be a good idea to let the player know how much they can spend at a maximum. Also is the maximum "rank" for a chocobo 50?

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

This guy has the right idea, I would work for 10k seals if it meant I had the chance to respec.

Nobody knows yet because it takes outrageously long to level your chocobo, but it seems to be implied that rank 10 is the max as that is the last achievement for it.

    Hello,

Your understanding on this is correct. As your companion ranks up you’ll gain SP; however, the amount of SP you receive is limited, so it will not be possible to acquire every skill for all three stances (defender, attack, and healer). With that said, we'd like you to look into how you’d like to specialize your companion and focus on acquiring the skills you need to make that happen.

If this is true there needs to be a way to reset your chocobo's skills. There's no reason anyone should be forced upon a poorly allocated chocobo.

Alright that's good to know, the only issue now is I've put 1 point in each stance so it seems I can't max out choco healer which is the one I was aiming for first =(.

Because nothing says beloved lifelong companion like wiping what little there is to the thing as if it were a busted laptop.

If nothing else it needs to be anything but convenient to do that, or the system'll be void of the sort of meaning they're trying to invest in it. Not to mention potentially undermine subsequent efforts like say, the promised breeding system for instance.

What I would love to see is a rework on the companion system. It's just quite frustrating as it is right now with your companion joining you in a party. It should be in a separate system. You can't do Guild leves although they're basically the same as normal leves which you can call your choco upon. You can't sign up for DF. You have to unsummon each time you move from point a to point b (if its a little far) eventhough you have another mount. It costs too much money to level you chocobo and its quite annoying the way it is now. It doesn't help it takes forever for it to level. I'm 42 on my first class my companion is 3 and I've used him a lot

Oh dear, Kari, it looks like you've angered a bunch of "gaming pros". They'll need therapy for years after reading your filthy casual gaming peasant opinion.

Or maybe, JUST MAYBE, you shoulda gotten the hint when it said "how you allocate your sp is up to you, be wise about your choices because the decisions are permanent"

Dear god, what more could you possibly need to be careful about your decision?!
