Easy fix: The "You already have one of these items in your Armoire" message should include the option to discard the duplicate, complete with an "Are you sure?" warning or 2. Duplicates get purged in a highly controlled manner, problem solved.Greetings,
Apologies for the delay!
The development team is aware of the large issue where inventory space is being taken up by artifact equipment and other equipment that you are unable to discard, and they are looking into countermeasures that will either allow you to simply discard them or create an NPC to take care of it for patch 2.1.

As of right now, the "hotfixes" are fixing eploits, hacks, and game breaking things, not minor inconviences. In the past week or so, the RMT have been hacking this game hard and causing many many issues, that is their main focus and it should be. Would you rather have them allow people to keep having their gil be stolen or fix an inconvience to the inventory system that they already stated is being addressed in 2.1? They are working on each thing, but there are major problems happening that really can just kill the game, that is what they are fixing first, granted these problems should have been fixed in Beta stage, but if you think about it, even on launch we didn't get everything that was suppose to be implemented into the game, so as I keep telling my FC, 2.1 is the official launch and if they can not get their act together by 2.2, this game will THEN start to die. People are only getting bored now because there is nothing to do, FATES are boring, leveling alts boring, gear is becoming too easy to get, and the economy is starting to go down because we are now getting too many people at crafting level 50 in multiple classes.
And one other thing to consider. RMT hacking has found a way to make you spend millions of gil on items without you even knowing, how long before they figure out how to access your retainer and just take your gil that way? The way the game is being attacked, I'm willing to bet very soon, so SE should be trying to jump ahead of this hack that obviously will be coming very soon and prevent it that way.

amazing....
all this time and no fix for this yet? I sure love to have my 5 extra spaces taken up by those silly duplicates of drg af in my armoire and make it vamoosh. lol
Everyone fancies themselves a game developer. ^^;And there is the issue. It shouldn't take what is now nearly 3 months after launch to change items so that they can be discarded. The whole "we are looking into ways of implementing this" is a huge blanket statement for them basically saying they are behind on every issue. God knows if this was a bug that allowed people to have some sort of unintended advantage they would take the servers down immediately and fix it, but if it is a bug that hinders the player and inconveniences them then it takes forever to get it fixed and the best we can hope for is them fixing it in 2.1.

Yeah.. I put all the pumpkin heads from the Halloween event in the armoire and well.. i picked up another Green Pumpkin head to do the Event Picture contest.
I was going to toss it when i was done. SUX.. WTH no option to discard.
I cant throw it away.. SE come on . it's taking up room in my limited by you inventory space.
I reported this bug. but i love their disclaimer: " SE will not personally reply back " .
Got to love it. Man WTH.

Bah >.> I hope they follow through with this.
This was in patch notes:
"Certain items have been made discardable.
In order to prevent the accidental loss of valuable items and gear, certain items have been made undiscardable. However, there have been a number of cases wherein players acquire multiple instances of these items, resulting in insufficient storage space. To address this issue, we have re-evaluated what items can and cannot be discarded."
One can only hope this means the extra af pieces some have acquired also. "X" fingers crossed!

Not a really clever solution, but it's better than nothing. ^^;
