Log in from different IP addresses

    Hi,

When I'm at work, our traffic gets routed to our gateway in Madrid.
I tried to log in from home today (Belgium), and my IP got flagged, and my account suspended until I reset my password.

Is there a way to set up some sort of whitelist for certain IP addresses?

Someone mentioned this can be done with the mobile authenticators (iOS/Android), but I do not have either of those devices.

    Thanks.

They do a hardware security token as well and the collectors edition came with one free. I'm not sure if you can buy them at the moment though (I've got the software one on mine now so it won't let me see info on the physical one), but if you can buy them still, login to:

    https://secure.square-enix.com/accou...n?cont=account

Click One-Time Password in the bottom left and the details should be there.

That's the only way around the IP blocks though I think, but I'm happy to be proved wrong!

I'll keep that in mind, but it seems they are sold out at the moment

Wait ... why on earth would IP changes be a cause for flagging any more? People have laptops, they're mobile, wtf?

If you login from a new location it seems it flags your account - Probably for security reasons, they're trying to avoid lots of "Someone hacked my account!" support issues. Steam does this as well and probably other services too, but there's no way to "opt out" here.

The only (at least unofficial) solution seems to be to use a security token on your account (hardware or software) and then the IP checking is ignored, presumably because the one time password adds quite a lot of security so they don't feel the IP check is necessary.

The security token makes the authentication a two factor authentication, so that even if someone hacks your password they won't have your security token for the one time password. The presumption is that if the person logging in has the security token and the password, they are the player and not a hacker

Im the same. I login from my office (if i am stuck working long shifts ill take a break and go exploring in my mmo's) i also have it on my laptop to travel with and login from pretty much all over the place. Im going to get a security token as soon as they are back in stock. i have one for Swtor and it works perfect. Its a bit of a pain but also comforting to know that the system has my back if anything happens..at least in some small way they try to help.
