GTX 765M not found in-game. Not sure if ARR is using it.

    Hi everyone.

I have a tricky situation, I'm currently using a laptop using an integrated Intel HD 4600 GPU and a dedicated GTX 765M GPU.

I've been playing FFXIV since EA and I haven't really had performance issues with it. However, I've noticed that in the Configuration settings, I only seem to be able to choose the Intel HD 4600 as my main display.

I get around 30-50 FPS on fairly crowded FATEs and areas with Standard (Laptop) settings.

I'm not sure if the game is actually already using my GTX 765M and just not showing it in the in-game configuration, or if it's really not using the 765M at all.

    I've done the following:
    • Manually change the settings/option on my NVIDIA Control Panel to make sure that FFXIV uses the High-Performance GPU. No fix.

Updated graphic drivers to beta 326.80 (latest) last night. No fix.

Similar to point 1, I've tried doing the opposite. I changed the option for FFXIV to use the integrated GPU instead of the high-performance, and I noticed a huge FPS drop to about 1/3 of what it used to be. This is what made me think that the game was already using the 765M and just not showing it in the config.

So at the end of the day, I'm stuck between being content with my system's performance, but not really knowing if I can go more or enjoy better graphics or if this is already it (because the in-game settings show it's still using the Intel HD 4600).

I'm currently downloading the benchmark as we speak so I can try to get a measurable and quantitative figure.

I would really love some help!!!

    Thanks!

If its selected in the nvidia ontrol panel to use only the GTX765M, then its most likey using the GTX765M even though the game itself only detects the intel 4600. Due to the state of the game on laptop drivers atm (nvidia is working on a good ffarr driver fr both desktop a well as laptop) looking at your fps, its already using the GX765M. If you want even etter performance you can always go in the nvidia control panel and change soe settings like the quality of several settings to improve the fps even more.
No matter what people will say, in my opinion the hd4600 will never reach that fps with any players near.

Do NOT rely on the benchmark... the benchmark is more made for desktop gpu's and drivers, ive got a 3.3-3.7 hz cpu and a GTX680M (which is slightly overclocked .. still always on low temp. so no throttling)
.. the benchmark gave me a score of around 10k at maximal settings, meaning i should be able to have reasonable fps on medium-max settings.
But while ive got up to 90 fps in empty zones, at cities for example a laggy feeling exsists and the fps goes al the way own to 40 XD .. and that on the lowest settings possible (though always at the 1902*1080 resolution.. anything lower just fucks up the eyes ;P)

    Thanks for this!

Sounds like I should be on the right settings then.

Hopefully SE gives a fix for this soon

    Thank you!
