    Poor AMD Optimization?

So far I've been running into issues with my 7950. In the benchmark I was able to consistently get 40+ fps, running the game on high-max. After I've been playing the actual game however, artifacts have been appearing in the picture (not overclocked and not overheating), and some areas have significant slow down to the point where it feels like rubberbanding/low fps even though the game fps counter is greater than 30 the whole time.

I switched the graphics down to standard to see what it would do, and while the is some improvement, it's not by much even though I'm using a pretty good system. i5 2500k @ 4.5 ghz, MSI 7950, 16gb RAM, SSD. Anyone have issues with this as well?

you should try AMD 13.8 Beta 2

Feature Highlights of The AMD Catalyst 13.8 Beta2 Driver for Windows:

    [...]
Final Fantasy XIV: Improves single GPU and CrossFire performance
    [...]
This fixed the artifakts on some cards and you get more fps.

Terminus, does the game slow down when your mouse cursor is visible? I'm having that problem and I'm on a Radeon card, too. Nothing in the original benchmarks caused problems, but ever since phase 3 I've had loads of trouble.

Hm, I have a Sapphire 7950 which I didn't overclock, and everything seems to go well with me. Graphics are set at max, and my fps are constantly at ~60 (w/ a 60 hz monitor). No artifacting, either.

yeah i have a similar system, kingston ssd i know you didnt mention yours but thats important as sandisk is about as usefull as a mechanical harddrive. Anyways, my system is similar, though i have a Sapphire OC 7870 ghz edition. other than that we are pretty much equal, and i have no graphical issues on latest beta drivers. >.>

and frame-rate drops are non existent. I am limited to 60 by the game, and 60 is what i stay at. So yeah the beta drivers are very apparently more functional for the game.

try to turn off your vertical sync on your graphic card settings.

it gives a huge boost on fps
