I have a question about diminishing returns. Since i am getting conflicting information about this, is it true or false that using stuns like leg sweep will give the tank diminishing returns on his stuns as well?

From my experiences, yes. If I were to stun a plume or eruption in Ifrit HM, theres a good chance that the tank's stun will be resisted if he needed to stun right after. Same goes for slows. If a monk were to use Haymaker and then I (Dragoon) used Feint Attack after, my slow cuts to 5 seconds versus the normal 20.
This is definitely 100% true. It works for all stuns from all people directly attacking the mob. That's why in fights where it's mandatory to stun an ability, we should avoid leg sweep and SSD unless specifically called for. For normal mobs, I'll throw in those abilities for extra DPS but it's not something you do on tougher bosses usually unless their attacks are completely avoidable.
Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand. I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me. Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't comin' back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.
