Hey Alexander,

So you can really use materia whenever you want. However i would not go out of my way for it until endgame. Convert your old armor if you don't need and attach the materia earned to your new stuff. Any bonus will help! Save your tier 3 Materia for rank 50 and Ilvl 50+ gear hope this helps.
