Hi,
I'll make this short. Maps/dungeons themes don't play for long durations and when transitioning from mounts/battle music they fail to play.
SE did a good job revamping ARR OST but we just can't enjoy it with the state they are in ATM.
Thanks,

I'm pretty sure they did this on purpose. Instead of constantly looping with no stop, it fades in and out, with large periods in between to hear the ambient sound/build immersion.
I'm inclined to disagree on this. The non-music part is just way too long and I'd enjoy listening to the OST more than insects in the forest.
Lets hope this get some attention
Why not give us a few extra options. During the long periods without the music playing I get kind of... bored(?) I think is the word I am looking for. I would like to have maybe some advanced music options, were say we can reduce the length of the pause of the music to allow the scenery sounds to play such as the birds and the bees, building sounds, and such, or to have the music on continuous loop. I think that would be beneficial. But, not sure.
Definitely. As it stands...exploring is so boring (for me at least) having to either listen to winds and trees OR listen to the mount music, which gets old really fast. Why not give us a few extra options. I believe they said it was a conscious design choice, but I hope they adjust it a least a little bit.
I've been spending a lot of time gathering and running around by chocobo (with the chocobo music off) and it's just too quiet. I mean, I do enjoy the ambient noises, but the music clips are often so short and infrequent I find them quite forgettable.
This became a pretty big topic on the beta forums during the different beta phases. The devs have stated that this was a conscious decision and that the music was in fact composed in a way that would make it hard to have it constantly playing. I think the idea was that the music has more impact if it suddenly start playing when traversing an area after it only being ambient sounds for a while or something like that. The devs seemed completely against allowing for it to be constantly played at first but after a pretty big number of players in the betas raised this topic the dev feedback notes after beta phase 3 said that they would seriously look into this issue again and see if they could make changes. I do not know where to find this post now that the beta forums are closed unfortunately. As for the mount-music getting old, it can be turned off in System Config./Sound Settings.

Since things settled down (somewhat) I feel it's time to bump this again.
In my opinion the atmosphere of the game is really suffering as a result of lack of constant OST playback. I really find it hard to remember zones without associating it to a memorable theme.
Would be nice if we can get a response on this
