    Fix the Region Locking Issues!!!!!!!!!

    So this is my situation.
    Back during Final Fantasy XI I made an account on the NA servers.

    I pre-ordered a boxed Collectors Edition from EB Games in Australia which is EU region.
    Received the physical copy 4 days ago now and tried to register it. Only to get told that my code was invalid because my account must be in the same region.

    Now when I received my pre-order code it said "Please note you will need a Square Enix Account to redeem these codes. If you do not already have one, please go here to register: account.square-enix.com".
    Nothing about if you do not have an EU account.
    When I input my pre-order code there was no message that said your pre-order code is for the wrong region, please make a new account.
    Instead it allowed me to redeem my pre-order code during Beta 4 (when I applied it) on my NA account, and see that FFXIV:ARR was now listed on my account.

    Regarding my physical copy now being in the wrong region, I contact Support to ask to get my account transferred to EU. Nope, cannot do...they don't do region transfers.

    Their solution:
    Make a new EU account, lose my pre-order bonus, and my characters. And not be able to make a new character on Diablos with my son, my partner and a long standing linkshell as the server is locked to new character creation.

    or

    Buy a NA collectors edition digital version, and apply it to my account which will cost me another $50USD. Only issue here is they have stopped sales on the download version through Square Enix, and Amazon does not sell outside NA.


    The whole region locking is ridiculous for PC. And the situation I am in is fully Square Enix's fault. They accepted my pre-order code for my NA account. If they had not done so, I would have made a new EU account and there be no issue at all.

    That they are totally ignoring THEIR mistake and thumbing their nose saying tough is just an insult.

    Exact same issue here.
    It's a global game, why the need for region locked activation codes?

    NA is NA , EU is EU, I got PSN asia but still need psn Eu to play . Is that a problem too ???

    So tonight I get an email saying "Dear Customer,

    So basically they closed my ticket because needing to redeem my PAID for activation code prior to the end of Early Access isn't time sensitive.............???????????????

    Now you'd think simple, just re-open the ticket? Nope, cannot do. Ticket does not exist in my ticket history.
    And well even if I could it would be past the cut off date for activating into full accounts the early access accounts given that ticket support is 48 hours (if they even do look at it).

    I am seriously now considering getting a US friend to take Square Enix to the BBB over this and force a resolution. And taking it to my own local Consumer Affairs. This is the worst Customer Service I have ever received.

    A quick scan over the forums and there are SO many others in my position. Cannot register game because of region locking. Yet every one of us is being ignored.
    We all bought our copy legitimately, yet we are not able to register our legal copy because Square Enix will not address the region locking issue!

    I personally am taking it to Consumer Affairs here in Australia, as the game I have, that was bought in good faith is not usable, and no refund or exchange of service has been offered by Square Enix.

    I advise everyone else in the same position to also contact a legal channel to get this addressed.

    The preorder codes were region locked as well.

    Why did your EB Games give you a NA preorder code and an EU game?

    They didn't. But during Beta 4 I was able to input my pre-order code on my account. It did not region check.

    Helli, I'm in the same predicament. I have an NA code (I live in NA) but somehow, my account is EU. I need an EU code to register my version of the game so I can play. Either that, or have my account switched over to NA. I've already had to start over twice because of server issues so starting over again with a new account isn't an option. I'm totally willing to switch codes with someone who is having the same issue but with the regions reversed.

    I have a feeling that support won't be of much assistance.

    I got the exact same email back that Helli did.
    I will probably return my PS3 CE back to EB for a refund as my key is faulty for lack of a better term.
    I'll have to find a friend or someone in the US who can buy a digital copy online when they go back up for sale.

    Such a shame that SE have region locked a global game online game.

    Is your version a Collectors Edition PC copy?
