Did quest in Ul'dah and LL both gave the same hat.

Silly question, but were you wearing the hat when you accepted the quest from LL (or at least had it in your inventory)? I know sometimes, things like that mattered in FFXI.. I realize this is not the same game, but sometimes thing run in a similar fashion.

Yes I was wearing the hat and the guy said some thing like "Hey you can't fool me! You already have a hat!" So I put it in on my retainer and came back and got my new one which was the same.

Well first of all you have to wait 8 hours to recieve another egg! its not 4! well actually it when the anima regens 2 points! i got my hat now, and now the other guy also have a !-sign. hmm wonder how this continue? :S

Not so sure about that. I just logged in after 10h+ and i didnt get an egg
Maybe its 3 anima regens?

Well for me, I can't do the same city's quest right after finishing it. I finished the one in Ul'dah and upon trying to initiate the next one it didn't even give me the "You are unable to receive another Archon egg at this time" message. The NPC still had the ! over his head but he just recited the same line as if I still had the quest.

You can however bring eggs back to the hat giving guy and get the same Pristine hat again.

I think the event will progress as time goes on, culminating sometime in the beginning of May.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Since right now all the cities give the same cap, it wouldn't be strange if it changed in a few RL days to the next cap.

What I am wondering is how we get the other pieces of gear the NPC's are wearing? Or is this gear already in the game as in crafters can make it? Anyone know?

I got a second egg after I traded my egg out of my inventory. I gave mine my other character, and when I didn't have an egg, the rhyming Lala (Ul'dah) gave me a new one. So then I traded all three eggs back to the first character, and got a fourth. There was no need to abandon the quest. I'm not sure of the timer to get another egg, as I went to bed after I got the first ones.

Try putting your eggs on your retainer and talking to the quest-giver again, or have a friend hold your eggs for you while you get another.

Edit: This doesn't work for everyone apparently, just had a LS-mate try it, but didn't get a second egg. Could work for some as it did for me, however.

Concerning Different Caps:

I'm still trying to get the quest in Limsa to work for me after I have done Uldah, but it doesn't want to work yet (it's been more than 24 hrs) BUT there are different hats in the dat files. Yellow Gremlin has them all listed. links below.
