very few tanks and some of them suck in dong their job

I think i will always heal, or tank. Here is why; when someone says "hey awesome heals" it just makes my day. I know ill never meet the person, and with DF ill never meet the character again most likely, but its nice to hear. I like to be a team player, i know good damage dealers are important, believe me i do, but to me, a good tank, or a good healer stands out more.

I am all for calling out bad people, if they will not take advice. They deserve it. But positive comments are welcome! Have you hugged your tank and healer today?

Yeah I've ran into a lot of bad tanks and white mages, honestly they feel like they're hot ****. As a DPS i wait up to an hr for most things on the duty finder and to have a whiny tank and healer quit the game is ridiculous.

DPS need to learn to attack what the tank is focused on and I have no problems with you going all out on it as I have no problems with hate but even more so if I can get the 1st hit (yeah that does help out a good amount). Also if you are Thm/Blm sleep yes sleep helps out so much and healers if a DPS is getting attacked while mobs are asleep let them die.

I have yet to have any complaints about my tanking and ask before any boss if there will be any adds and if I need to grab them. Now since I'm a tank I have no idea how other tanks are but being 46 I'm going to start leveling a DPS within the next month.

Problem I'm finding is with those who FATE grind to 50.
They only need to land a few hits per FATE to get the exp to level up.

By the time they actually run the content, they haven't tanked anything and just don't know how it works.

On the flip side, I've met some amazing tanks. Ones that require almost no healing, avoid aoe attacks every time, and pull hate instantly if anything tries to get away from him/her.

The good tanks, and I mean really good tanks haven't even started playing their tanks yet. We were smart enough to roll crafter's first and help each other our so when we decide it's time to play our tanks we can upgrade our gear every 5 levels and add materia every 5 levels. Why play a character if your not gonna play him right?

Now that we are reaching 50 on crafter's and are rolling in the Gil you will start to see an influx of some better tanks in the next few weeks.

I am willing to bet that in 80% of the cases where people think the tank is bad it is in reality that the dps and healer are really bad. Healers over heal way too much and dps does not understand that tanks don't have a .05 sec GCD so they start dpsing before the tank even has a chance to hit anything. And then they scream "bad tank"

This game is not like any other for tanking. If you have a terrible healer and dps they can make a tank look beyond terrible in this. I am even willing to be that 60% of the dps and healers don't understand how the red,green,yellow dots work on the aggro meter and think "lets try to make pretty colors change"

Does this really require a thread? There are a lot of new players in this game. The game has been officially out for 9 days. How about you give them a chance to learn their jobs and get better instead of belittling them.

I'm sorry but I don't understand how this makes any sense. Adding materia to your gear every 5 levels while levelling up is beyond unnecessary. That's fine if this is the route you're taking, but I really doubt that many people other than you are maxing out crafting classes before they start tanking.

dude when the tank can't get aggro on me i always give him stoneskin to see if it gives him time to build aggro before i heal with... cure lower aggro heal you can do.

and yeah, i'm talking about tanks who cannot hold aggro even on that, marauders that needed me to sleep mobs on packs of 2 or 3

and i often play with friend who wait or cc the extra mobs when the tank obviously can't handle more than one...

even will all that i find myself tanking often in dungeons.

tanking is pretty easy man... I dunno i've had no troubles keeping aggro even when the archer (silly how it seems to be an archer each time) attacked the mobs first...
