I guess level 50 tanks are getting bored. This guy was level 50 WAR and pretty much would draw the aggro and do nothing. He'd sit there and watch us attack (we attacked the one he marked first, so no vengeance motivation) and then would get the last hit. So I drew all the aggro (was replaying Haukke) in the one hallway with 2-3 maidservants and watched as they all killed him in one fell swoop.
On the other end of the spectrum, I met a tank in CB that was probably the ideal tank. Too bad more of him aren't around.
I totally aggree !The biggest problem are all the DDs that don't know how to play. DRGs and ARCs Pulling, BLMs spamming AoE when you should focus and ignoring Adds when they should get nuked, etc. etc.
What happens -> alot tanks don't want to play via the duty finder anymore and just do their runs with friends.
So stop complaining about tanks and the freaking long waiting times as DDs its your own fault...
I play tank (both GLD and MRD) I'm not perfect at all but still think I do a decent job (I was even thanked for it yesterday) but sometime there is this random DPS who make everything he can to take aggro / make things harder.
And if you tell them to be careful about aggro or following target you usually get answers like "shut up" or "I'm not new to this do your job".
Seriously instead of bashing tanks, control your own dps first.
Seeing treads like this makes me wonder if I want to continue playing as a tank at higher levels....![]()
It helps to set a few ground-rules at the start of an instance. Greet everyone and say: "Please, allow me to grab hate before you start nuking." "Attack my target only" "If AOE is needed, allow me to grab hate on all mobs first" etc...
Give the players you're with a set of simple rules to follow. You'll see that will make your tanking experience much more rewarding. Also, be the one to pull and mark important targets.
If DPS isn't focusing your target and pulls hate, you'll intercept and try to save him. If it happens again, you look back and smile as his HP reaches 0.

OP I prefer to suck on a bong rather than a dong, but each to their own.
There is reason why you don't just start at 50, you learn your role during that leveling process. Many people here are in fact raging at learners and need to take a step back form the game and engage their brain before they type. Anyone who has run an endgame guild/ls etc knows perfectly well that you have to nurture new players/players new to endgame and take them on runs just to give them some experience and get their skills up to scratch.
If you are at cap and want to complain about bad tanks thats a whole other thread, the OP was clearly raging about some lv30ish battle, and needs to take a chill pill.![]()
I got the worst Duty finder the other day healer wasn't healing and blm was just spamming aoe not to mention they where all rude to each other, they spent more time arguing rather than killing mobs.
"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit."
I had an instance like this, it was pretty similar in the same place as well. It wasn't with a Tank, but a healer, who refused to heal and wanted to do dps.
Let the dragoons do the dps scholars. >B/
PLD:
Press flash if more than 1 enemy, repeat if aggro lost, hit fast blade, then hit savage blade, then hit Rage Of Halone. Repeat.
Expert: Use tanking cooldowns and rotate them
MRD:
Turn defiance on. Press overpower if more than 1 enemy, repeat if aggro lost press heavy swing, then hit skull sunder, then hit butcher's block Repeat.
Expert: use tanking cooldowns and rotate them. Press heavy swing then maim to keep your wrath stack up.
Tanking is the easiest role in this game.
