ETA of when character creation will be reinstated?

I understand that there is a massive problem with server congestion and i'm aware that priority is given to sorting out the current queuing and logging in problem.

I'm not complaining, but I have stacks of mates who are incredibly excited to play, preordered and purchased their game, but dread the thought of having to play alone or recreate a character from scratch or pay for a character transfer, so they are waiting before playing.

I've suggested to them just to start their character and I will pay for the transfer, but they don't want to play alone.

It feels a little severe that just because they didn't sneak in the first few hours to quickly create a character, they are being segregated.

My question is, will we most likely have to wait another couple of weeks for world transfers to be up so we can all just move to a non congested server? Or will the character ban be lifted before then. Some clarity would be awesome, the updates have been fairly ambiguous.

I've just recently cleared most pre 30 content, running the dungeons and guildhests multiple times, taking my time to stop and "enjoy the view", reading every line of quest text ect and don't have any desire to do it again, unless I'm able to plough through it at level sync to help them. Plus i'm really enjoying the engaging story on my main and would love to progress together, running than one of us having to stop all together.

New character creation is locked. You can't login anyways. You can't buy the game.

As far as I'm concerned, we're getting to the point of a historically poor launch, since I consider EA launch. It's been crappy and getting worse instead of better all along. And you know things are bad when they have to shut down sales of the game. Even if there have been rougher launches this has to be the worst anybody has ever done at properly stress testing and count preorders to have hardware roughly capable of handling players.

You know why the NA/EU severs are so Clogged up, Gill sellers, there are very little of them on the JP severs (i would say none but I found one) and those severs have not been locked for new Characters. if SE were to BAN these people then there wouldn't be as much server congestion in the first place.

Same. I've been on Masamune (JP Legacy Server), haven't seen one gil seller so far (as far as i'm aware) and JP servers are notoriously less congested and have a great deal of fewer problems than NA.

This sums up how bad it is, after getting into a NA/EU sever after almost an hour trying yesterday. I got spammed by 4 gill sellers in a space of 5 minutes after that I went to join a Friend of mine on the JP sever I now use as my main, only just encountered a gill seller today and he/she only sent me a tell once where the 4 people on NA/EU spammed the chat with shouts every 5 sec, making chating to other genuine players dang near impossible if you didn't blacklist them. Stopping to blacklist every 5 seconds is a pain the backside. So if you are looking for the True reason why your friends cant join you on the sever your currently playing on, its them. The number of them on NA/EU servers is beyond a joke....

I would like to hear some word on this as well. I was lucky to get three of my friends on the same server, but my brother was not able to play during P4 or EA, so he didn't make a character and now he can't make a character on our server. It is frustrating because he is not big into MMOs to start with but I got him to give FFXIV a try. I want to help him out with the game but now can't even play together with him!
