There are server issues and the servers are artificially capped to prevent them from going unstable and preventing ANYONE from playing. Right now they're doing their best to make sure SOME people can play and it's really unfair of you to blame them for trying to make the best of an unexpected situation. If you're really so desperate to play then do what other people are doing; roll on a free server, usually Japanese, and then do a character transfer later when everything settles down.
No launch goes without errors and if you're really going to get so up-tight because you can't play immediately, then yeah, please go play TOR; that'll free up server space for people who are actually willing to calmly wait it out.

You need to stop talking. I have participated in every single major MMO launch since Everquest and NEVER and i mean NEVER have I seen a system implemented that specifically limits players from playing due to overpopulation. At this point, causing the servers to crash would be a blessing due to the sheer amount of bots and AFKers that have taken refuge after their successful spam attempts. Server crashes are a given among the mmo community and have been historically expected. As are server queues. Even trash games like never winter nights online experienced a better launch than this 'triple A' title at this point. I am highly disappointed, as you should be as well at this point. However, your head is too far in the clouds because, you think SE walks on water. People like you are the reason that companies continue to get away with stunts like this.

The hard part is I do love the game. I really want it to just work. At the same time, I'm really having a hard time thinking that I spent $30 for something that I can't even play.

I know what you mean; I spent my day playing an alt on a Japanese server but my main is on Excalibur which was locked almost immediately. However; i'm lucky enough to live in New Zealand so around about 5-6pm here America goes to bed and I can play just fine on my main. Which, also, is another option. So far the servers always free up around 5-6pmGMT so if you're willing to stay up a little later you can play where you want. (And so we know that's about 2-3 hours from now).

I know these aren't ideal solutions, but they are solutions. Complaining, and getting mad, are not solutions; they just make everyone feel worse about something that is trying to be resolved as quickly as possible.

Yikes....starting to see this sentiment a lot. I feel for you though, the countless hours of me sitting in front of my computer literally getting nothing done makes me just want to do the same - I will hold out for another day though because I enjoy the game!

Do what this one does, wake up in the middle of the night, log in and afk til you get home. Selfish, but tbqh it is the only way to get on during peak.

No one wants to play on a random foreign server that their friends are not on.
The move to a new server solution does not work because people don't wanna start over...like me. I can't bare it anymore after 3 times lol.
Now, it may work if they promised them somewhere in a week or 2, people will move onto their initial server free of cost.
-Shrugs; I won't be able to log much as I am working in the evenings, come home at night and I'm sleepy as hell lol. My only chance is to rush in the mornings.

Clearly from your post you're a connoisseur of video-games and think there are better ones, so go play one and leave the rest of us alone. I have never understood why if people are dissatisfied with a game they will bitch like a mofo on the forums instead of simply leaving. I don't think Se 'walks on water', but I do think that they deserve the chance to sort things out before before going over-entitled retard on them. IF in a week or so they haven't sorted themselves out, then fine, they had a chance and I'll leave. But I'm not going to yell about it like a little bitch.

So, you resort to calling me a 'little bitch' for listing primary concerns? The fact still remains that you're stubborn, blind and oblivious to the issues at hand. They knew it was coming, it started doing this at open Beta there is no excuse for this. My character was on diabolos but SE transferred me to Hyperion (1.0 player.) Now I can't even create a character on diabolos (I was already on there as I stated) but now I can't play with my wife or friends from FFXI that I haven't played with in years... They simply could have pushed back early access and the game a week instead of all the bullsh*t we're currently having to deal with. knowing I can't play ahead of time is better than telling me I can't play when I want, they are the ones running the server I paid for a service and they aren't delivering, again.

It's people like this that fail to understand the actual implications of SE's actions and instead offer up their own blind sense of self-gratification for their inability to fix the issues. This has by far been one of the worst launches in MMO history. Fact. Just because many MMO's have horrible launches does not preclude SE from solving the actual issues. Their lack of communication and vague blog posts do nothing but further anger players who WANT TO PLAY THE GAME. It's not about being desperate or up-tight, it's about playing a game we paid for; simple as that. Before you rush to blame us (the players who make the game run) you should understand what you're arguing and what we are arguing about.

People want to play with their friends/family/guildmates ... currently this is impossible for many. If you spend time developing a character on a japanese server - unless SQ-E offers free transfers in September, the player has essentially wasted their time and will also be assessed a fee to move a character so they can play with the people they want to play with.

At the very least, this is a an exploding minefield of PR disaster. First perceptions are incredibly hard to rectify if they're bad.

Actually, I called the people running around yelling about it all little bitches. But I assume you took the insult to be aimed at you because you have been; I believe that makes the insult self-inflicted. Voice a concern is one thing; but the majority of people on the forums haven't been 'voicing concerns', they've been yelling, screaming, threatening and throwing tantrums. Throwing a tantrum because you can't play a game? I know three-year-olds better behaved.
