PS3 Version Bad Suprise

The Display on the PS3 Version is very disappointing. I'm running on a large HD TV (more than 50 in.). The writing is hard to read. The picture is cut off so I have to squeeze the HUD together shrinking all the windows making it even harder to read or see anything. The chat log is immovable and there for it is permanently cut off from full view. I've tried a number of things. I can set the PS3 to run in only 480i which gives me the full screen but the Graphics look bad and its less enjoyable. I've moved the HUD around giving me a full display of everything but the Chat log. I really like to have the full chat log in view so this is a problem for me.

I'm hoping someone can give me some real advice to something I might have missed. I'm hoping SE updates the PS3 version to have more display settings.
There is no way I have seen in game to adjust anything more than Gamma in regards to display. I just don't think this is adequate and I really hoping I'm missing something.

Did you try adjusting your tv settings?

Also from my experience in phase 4 on ps3 briefly.. it really wasn't anything to look at.

its weird because other games the PS3 plays look great. For example the picture in Call of Duty is amazing and in full HD. I know this game is supposed to play in 720 but it looks like crap.

I'm amazed at how many people are praising this game saying nothing is wrong when there have been so many problems such as this. First the travesty known as 1.0, the shortened beta phase 4, the huge errors during that phase, now we are at early access approaching launch, several maintenances later, problems are still around, all the same error. PS3 users getting the short end of the stick, problems with Pre-access codes, list goes on. I've tried to keep positive and support SE throughout the entire thing but this is just becoming ridiculous. Why are they doing this, giving us such shoddy service? I've always said positive things on SE's behalf throughout beta even during that whole error 90k and 3102 but now... Idk... Patience wearing thinner and thinner.

You need to find the display button on your remote or function on your TV menu and set it to "JUST SCAN" or "FULL PIXEL" or "PIXEL FOR PIXEL"

This tells your TV to display the full output resolution.

You most likely have your tv set to 16:9 thinking since you have wide screen, everything should be formatted to fit your wide screen. Which is a mistake.

When you go to settings under options in the PS3 version there are no adjustments for Display except the bar adjusting Gamma or whatever. How is this even right.

It's kinda sad/funny but I remember when PS3 was announced with it for 1.0 I said "PS3 limitations" as kind of joke on FFXI for PS2, but 3 years later and we're on the verge of a new console and the old ones are starting to show some wear.

I feel for you man, but see what you can do with screen size on the tv side.

I have both versions of the game. The windows version looks and runs incredibly well. Going to the PS3 version is like taking a dump in an outhouse. It stinks like poop.

I am also viewing this game on PS3 on a rather large HD television, and am having no problems whatsoever. Looks fantastic and the sound design is surprisingly good as well, with many surround effects.

I would advise taking a breath, calming yourself, and focusing on properly calibrating your settings. I did have to make some minor adjustments to display, but because my details are certainly not yours, I won't go into that here. I am happy, however, to suggest you try to enter mouse mode for the PS3 to change your chat window size, if necessary, as well as map size. Also, note that pressing R3 while in menus may alter the size of the menu.

you have to adjust your TELEVISION

on your remote control there should be a "display" button or a "picture size" that changes your TV picture to 16:9, zoom 1, zoom2, 4:3 and "picture fit / Just Scan / Full Pixel"

you want to use the picture fit or just scan or full pixel setting. This tells your TV to display the full resolution your PS3 is outputting. Otherwise you will get a cropped screen.

You shouldn't expect the PS3 version to look as good as the PC, but at the same time don't blame XIV for not knowing how to use your TV.
