One Free Transfers Coming?

Just wondering if there is any word of a FREE transfers situation is coming for those who had no choice but to make a character on some random server away from their friends because servers were locked even before the game was released? (Not saying just those people, but because of those people is what I mean. Obviously no way to tell who had to do such.) I know there will be paid transfers but that sounds a little lame considering the fact that if someone wanted to play at all they had to go to some random server if they expected to keep up with their friends. Alot of people have been pulled into this game by word of mouth and now they have to solo it out.

Also, did a search for "Free Transfers" on both google and here nothing with even close to such a title came up besides the "They never give anything free" comments and Im not about to comb through "similar but not even close" threads to get a answer. Somebody must know something.

Something on the Mog station about after 30 days or 60 days of service you will be able to move worlds.

They can't do free transfers as it'll cause absolute chaos with the economy on multiple worlds (as you take your items and money with you).

The world transfer (FFXI anyway) is a low cost mostly likely as a deterrent so if you want to move you can for a low fee, but high enough to stop people changing on a whim.

With the world closures we had problems getting our linkshell on the same server, but through trying as well as all our members checking/alerting those still needing to join we managed to get everyone on the server by the end of the phase 4 beta (some people didn't really get to play in the phase 4 beta, but we got them on the server by that time at least), so sucky as it is, just needed some patience in creating the character in the first place.

I don't see how the market will be that greatly affected this early into the game. If they were worried about that... why let legacy people move their characters and keep all their gil and items? as well as crafting and gathering levels?

They don't keep all their gil, not even close to it, and their transfer isn't going to happen for quite some time, like 3 months down the road if I remember right, I think it was in the dev letters, you lose like 90% of your gil with the server transfer though.

The only thing i remember about them losing gil was with the shifting of pricing. where all gil got reduced by 10:1. And there was a transfer during P4 i think for legacy people to migrate to other servers. I may be wrong about this. And i don't recall anything about them losing anything as a result of the transfer.

So, if I have someone that I got to buy the game, but now my server (daibolos) is locked for character creation, then how should I tell them to proceed? Make a character on another server so that they can get started and then use a free transfer to either join them or they join me?

Is it likely that SE will give a free character transfer to another world. (Not legacy related)

Nothing confirmed on how or if the "free" character transfer will happen.
But... there is hope that once the new servers go up that this may happen within the next week. So i'd say it's up to your discretion on whether or not you want to both play on separate servers for the time being, or have your friend wait until the server loads are somewhat lifted so that there is no question whether or not he will be able to log in and play on a given world.

In short. I personally would wait to play until the chatter about not being able to log in due to too many people dies down and then register the game and play my free 30 days

Thanks for the advice, I guess that is what I will do, and hopefully they post something about it soon.
