Steadfast really only makes one difference, AoE or no AoE. I find Steadfast to make the battle more interesting because there are times i want to AoE a group and others that i do not due to the possible gimping of the next group. There is so much more to being a MRD than just getting in Steadfast. I think that making Steadfast into a toggle feature will, in a way, stunt the skillfulness of being a MRD.

You can't just make a statement like that without a reason - why do you think that? I, for one, think it would make MRD more useful being able to toggle on and off. I would be more reactive to what is happening if, for instance, you are mid fight and there is a pop in front of you - you can choose to get the add or leave it depending on how the situation arises.

I understand your point and i am sorry for making a clam without supplying support. We already have the ability to toggle steadfast on and off, the only problem, it seems, is that it takes a bit of time for your character to get back into it. to use your example, say you are mid fight and there is a pop in front of you. At this point you you grind the numbers, should i AoE this mob as well? can my party take this monster on also? will the monster give us good sp if we fight it alone? because if i AoE this monster it could kill my party, or gimp the sp gained from it... whats my move? alright, i am going to not AoE it to save sp... at this point you get a different angle on the monster your engaged with so you remove your Steadfast and do not cause AoE.

on the other hand, if the monster pops and you want to attack it then by all means, AoE and let the pain train leave the station!!! because thats what we MRDs DO!!

Now, i believe that the option to be able to toggle Steadfast on and off will make our position as MRDs easier. we wouldn't have to worry about our positioning, or if we are going to cause major aggro. i feel that since beta, this game has only been getting easier and easier to play and i am afraid of where it might end... but thats another story lol

    reminder:

wiggling your analog stick to get steadfast off = not a skill.
its not competing in timing against anything or anyone and requires no attention. in fact, its requires nothing to be pulled off (you could literally be watching tv while moving the analog stick around actually).

    example of actual skill:

triggering a stun ability before the enemy unleashes a special attack.

Matter of fact, to have the the ability to toggle it on and off with a click of the button takes even less skill as it requires even less to do. Furthermore, MRDs aren't much of interrupters. We have maybe 3-4 skills that MAY interrupt the target. If you want to talk about that sort of skill then please refer to the Lancer section of the forums.

    Yeah you did.

That's the funny part. People who claim wiggling your stick in order to turn steadfast is a skill don't realize it's the *same* as toggling it on and off with a button. You still have to go "uh, is it going to hit other things?" (which I repeat, no skill is involved there).

The only reason steadfast isn't on a button, IMO, is lazyness from the developers. Currently it feels just like an unpolished last minute thing they threw in.
