People will always bitch about server problems. Even when blizzard has them. Have you ever been on the forums when blizzard starts Emergency maintenance? The forums are filled with "WTF BLIZZARD? DOWN FOR 5 hours?!?!?! CANCELLING SUB" If anyone is being unfair its you.
Anyone else wonder what Moogle tastes like?
People have been having login issues since phase 4. I fail see how Blizzard is "the worst company ever" but Square Enix is "the best company ever".
Either the "hey shit happens" applies to everyone, or no one. Or you're no worse than the people who blindly give this game 0/10.
Uhh A major patch in LK brought the servers down for a whole weekend. Or was it BC? I just remember sitting in ironforge when it happened.
Anyone else wonder what Moogle tastes like?
I'm not saying it's fair to hate SE. I'm saying it's unfair of the OP to hate on Blizzard and fawn over SE at the same time. It just paints you as a blind SE fanboy, to damn one company for the exact same things you praise another company for.
You damn Blizzard for having servers down for one weekend? Again, people have been having these problems since XIV was in TESTING (you know, the optimal time to address the issues). People were saying the game should be pushed back, because the servers were overloaded from stress testing, and of course launch would be worse.

The intentional login restrictions were put in place because their servers are over capacity. People have predicting all of this would happen at launch.
Trying to bash Blizzard to try and make SE look better is desperate fanboyish misdirection and unnecessary hate.
And people are STILL having 3102.

Ah, thank you for the clarification on that.
For me, it's the same standard for all companies in Multiplayer Launches. Each game gets a grace period of a month from me to get their servers straight.
Why? Because I've seen this situation in every major online launch to date. The Gaming Community continues to grow, and more and more people are interested in games that feature social interaction. It is a highly entertaining, and comparatively inexpensive social pastime to have when looking at real life alternatives. Given the economy and the rise of wide acceptance of technology and entertainment therein, each consecutive company continues to be surprised at the level of initial interest each of their products garner.
Additionally it is simply financially unfeasible to shoot for the stars in terms of server availability and load capacity on the launch of any game. Guild Was 2 also had to stop sales of their games for an extended period of time to compensate for extensive server load. It was simply more widely excused as it was a Buy to Play game.
We're growing in number, us Gamers. It behooves us veterans to try to behave as an example for others. (And even I fail in that from time to time, but it should not prevent us from trying continually.)
Once we get over the hiccups there will be plenty to discuss about the game itself. But I do have to applaud SE in their accomplishment here, even in their folly. They took a failure of a game and built a game so interesting to others that now stands toe to toe with other MMOs in terms of demand.
Initial launch frustrations aside, it looks like it's earned it's second shot in the eyes of the players. Now let's see how many we can keep here. Let's try to keep the good and friendly ones, yes? I like them.
Umm WoW had so many bugs in the game itself, not just mentioning their server instabilities at launch. FFXIV had what...some server connection errors mostly due to the volume of people using duty finder? Nah, I'm behind Yoshi. His heart is in the right place. They have issues to fix. I'll still be here. Because for every person that joined the SE Bash Bus and wants to quit because of imo normal game launch behavior then that's one less person I gotta fight for a spot in the server to play an amazing game.
no
for anyone who may be thinking of starting another mmo someday, open beta should last at least 2 weeks. everything that is happening now is the result of some bona fide genius deciding they would only stress test servers for 2 days
