I don't understand why this is nonsense. Seems reasonable to me. SE is asking us, politely mind you, to consider making characters on less populated servers. I don't see what's so wrong with that. They're not forcibly transferring anyone, they're not mandating it, they're simply asking us to consider it. You can argue that the shut down of character creation is a way to forcing us, but even so, I don't understand how you were led to believe this is nonsense. Unless, of course, you don't believe they are having server problems or believe there's an ulterior motive at play here.

Personally, I think they made some miscalculation on the volume of players in the US and EU...compounded with early access being on a weekend...I can completely understand, and even predicted that they would have launch issues. I just wish they would re-implement the queue. I hate having to keep double-clicking my character until I finally am able to logon.

And that is one tough game to beat, and nearly impossible on multiplayer mode!

All but one of the Japanese Servers was restricted for new characters last night as well. And even after trying to start a new character on that server I got the 1017 error.

See, all of you guys at least know that whenever they pull their heads out of their not-so-cleanly places you can play the game. Try not even being able to register after purchasing.

I saw someone posted a 15 step guide to do it on the PS3(which mind you doesn't work in the first place....) So yup, sucky sucks.

What they need to do is maybe double the amount of servers, and move half the population to the new servers. At this point more people are buying the game and the back log of players not being able to even play is constantly decreasing. Maybe they have enough servers to handle their player base in 4 years. But with this issue those will be the only people sticking with the game, because they were the only ones who have played it. Honestly if I can't even get in long enough to get to lvl 20 (I've been on lvl 19 for 4 days) I feel I may pass on this game all together. I don't want to but the next Final Fantasy game I play from tonight may be FF15.

It is nonsense because my friends are playing and have leveled their characters but I can't. I want to play this game but I want to play it with my friends. To say oh well I have to play on another server cause Square can't up the cap of each server is bull to say the least. One of the key reasons to playing an MMO is playing with your friends. Well I guess not on this game. I have live with 2 roommates and we all have to play on different servers cause we want to play but server A which allowed me to play is now full and my other friends can't make characters on my but want to play to.

If this doesn't get resolved soon the next Final Fantasy game I play will be... Ebaying all the ones I currently own. Wildstar and Elder Scrolls are both set to release soon enough and there are other Single Player RPG's that I can enjoy as well, either that I can stick to table top games.

So let me get this right.....people would rather have the entire server crash because so many people trying to get it then limiting connection so at least some people can play?......and that makes sense to people?
