Action Bar Shortcuts Not Working On PlayStation 3. Please Help!

I am playing on the PlayStation 3 and I am using a keyboard and a mouse. I am trying to get the Action Bar Shortcuts shown here to work on my PlayStation 3 because when I press them they do not work with my cross hotbar.

This is the official post from Square Enix about the PlayStation 3 controls and it shows that these work but when I press them they do not work with what is on my cross hotbar:

The direct chat is also turned off.

Completely agree, this is a huge problem and will determine weather or not I go past the 30 free days. I don't game with a controller. The only thing I can see is remapping all your keybinds.

I think you need to disable the "Direct Chat", said at this part.

Keyboard Controls
To change key bindings, select System in the main menu, and then select the category of commands you wish to reassign in the Keybind menu.
* Direct chat will be enabled by default, resulting in key strokes registering in the log window automatically.
Direct chat must be disabled in order to use commands with the keyboard.
This setting can be changed on the General tab of the Character Configuration menu.

Yes you can, the main issue is we no longer have access to the Hotbar, we are forced to use the Cross Bar. When editing the UI, we can see the bars are there but cannot access them. All the issues just keep piling up and with the recent Material usage license change I may just voice my dislike by closing my Wallet to all SE games. 30 days SE

As I stated in the above post, the direct chat has been turned off. The Action Bar Shortcuts worked in phase 3 beta but in phase 4 and release they have not worked at all on the PlayStation 3.

From this it displays how the numbers keys are for the hot bar..no such luck. So I spent the day just trying to work around with key binds. Best I could come up with is to set the xhotbar to "toggle" and use (shift+1) as R2 then simply key press 1-8 (since toggle mode I can only use an 8 button bar at a time).
A lot of work to get there and could have worked but the key bind appears to use the controller button twice. Example: (shift+1) hot bar is now toggled on, then (key 3) to use "cure" (I bound to triangle)....I begin to cast but get interrupted and jump. Somehow it's telling my toon to cast and jump and the same command.
Back to the main topic, the existing system doesn't appear to be working as intended and would love if it was fixed to how the manual implies or redo the hotbar system.
