Anyone else expecting the new data center upgrades to not be enough?

It's possible the server upgrades aren't big enough. If the people having to wait to play all week(or since EA) can't play by next week AFTER upgrades? They will walk. For good.

You're also speculating that it'll be a "significantly expanded server base". And that's precisely my point. It may not be enough.

I haven't once defended this launch and have been outspoken in my dis-satisfaction with the release and lack of support.
So... maybe you can hold off on the blind insults and quirky buzz words for a minute?

My statement is to say that the issues they're having are extremely positive for the game and the company.
Even if "they will walk", the game already has enough servers to support strong revenue and positive earnings.
Now they're adding more servers, which will support more subscriptions, which will improve that further.

If the server upgrade isn't enough AND that pisses people off enough to leave (two fast assumptions imo),
it will free up the servers and the remaining players (plenty for positive earnings and a successful game) will be able to play just fine and have no reason to leave.

I don't think the servers will really be fixed until they allow server transfers. Mog Station has it listed as coming mid September but I don't think it will be that early maybe October.

I just have the strangest feeling when everything goes up next week, it simply won't be enough. THAT would be the death of the game, unfortunately.

The only thing i'm sure of is that it won't be an will never be the death of the game. It might be death in your heart but it won't be in mine as many other players around this community.
The game is out for only about only 24hours at the most and the disconnection error are pretty much resolved with the limitation.

I would suggest to wait and see and not speculate negatively on what is gonna happen next. This is an MMORPG, in this kind of world everything in term of technology can be upgraded and stabilized. In my opinion, World of Warcraft servers could crash at any moments!

SE will do what is necessary to make their clients happy. Just give them the time to get there.

But you're assuming you know that they will have a ton of positive earnings and enough subs. The constant errors, the server errors, it could all deter more than people believe.

I want the game to succeed, I'd love for this game to be the MMO that I play until the next big MMO.

Thankfully, this game isn't being released around another MMO release or it would be in major trouble. Either way, it's already getting a lot of bad press. That's not good either.

People on the fence? Not good for them, they are being told to stay away.

It isn't a 'free' month, you get 'a month where you don't have to pay the subscription fee'. This isn't like a free trial where you can simply pick up the game and give it a try. You have to PAY for the game in the first place to get the month of 'free' play. You see where I'm going with this?

If it takes them a month after you've subscribed to make the game playable for you, you can't play what you've paid for until you start paying more. You have indeed paid for that 'free' month. It's good business to call it that, it fools people into thinking they are getting more than what they paid for.

The reason they don't charge you at first is because a player who just dropped 25-50 dollars on a game doesn't want to immediately have to pay 15 dollars to access said game and try it. This has NOTHING to do with the fact that all MMOs have some issues at launch. Someone who buys the game 3 months from now when all these problems are gone also get that 30 free days.
