I don't mind having dungeons just don't take away my reason to be out in the games environment!

Just because OP attempted to camp NM's on the day of release dose not mean there is an overall problem with the system. If this person wants easy mode ZERG content they should go to RIFT or WoW...
I agree everything should not be Istanced the world would feel like there noting around beside mobs and npcs. no thanks i want a reason to go to each area like FFXI tho when whitegate was release this is when everything got mess up then they fix it later with FOV lol. so stuff like this are good reason to go to areas.

    quest,items, events so on.

The point of this post is to state simply this: As a person with a life, a family and college studies to worry about, I don't have a lot of time to burn on a video game.

So, sitting on a single NM for two hours, in the middle of competition against other parties...would have been better spent getting SP. But I wanted that armor. Two hours of time invested into the game to try to get it, feels like it has been a wasted investment, and therefore, degrades the value of FFXIV to me, a "high-end" casual gamer.

Time, to me, is precious. If a game makes me waste more than an hour for a single item drop, someone in the dev team *** up.

That is my perspective, and a good solution would have been to make all NMs instanced content so that parties can fight their way down through a dungeon or something, and then fight the boss - and get the item they're after as a reward.

Not a whole lot different from how .hack//G.U. does it - there's a chest at the end of every dungeon, there's probably a boss at the end of every other dungeon. Etc. Things like that.

This solution would have made things FAR more enjoyable, more tangible for the average casual player, as opposed to SITTING ON YOUR *** *** FOR TWO HOURS FOR NOTHING.

If this message does not reach Naoki Yoshida, then the chances of him adjusting his strategy for NM/instanced content is going to be slim, and the game will continue to be unfriendly to casuals who want to get a particular item.

Believe me, I know that this strategy would be a better course of action than the traditional FFXI approached "tweaked" to suit particular circumstances. That's not gonna work. No, no, no. It won't work at all! You're only going to drive off more casuals...

I spent two hours trying to get the armor drop from Kokoroon Quickfingers, and I only had ONE CLAIM. ONE CLAIM. WITH A PARTY OF FOUR.

We had promised to help each other get what we wanted from Kokoroon.

Yet two other parties are crowding into the spawn and managing to get the NM before any of us. AND THEY ARRIVED AN HOUR AFTER WE DID.

THIS IS PRECISELY WHY I AVOIDED NOTORIOUS MONSTERS IN FINAL FANTASY XI. THIS IS NOT CASUAL-FRIENDLY.

Make NMs instanced, please, for *** sake. One NM spawn per party. PROBLEM *** SOLVED.

Two hours of camping Kokoroon, and what do I have to show for it? NOTHING.

Thanks a lot, Naoki Yoshida! YOU SURE WERE THOUGHTFUL!

I'm going to bed. *** this ***. If I can't at least get the opportunity to claim the mob five times in an hour of camping, from a casual's perspective, it is NOT worth the time and effort to deal with the competition. Period. Non. Nein. Nyet. NO.
I agree for the most part that the game developers should never force you to sit around for two hours doing nothing. That means they screwed up.

But you have to realise that in two or three days, nobody is going to give a crap about the stupid Kokoroon Quickfingers or whatever his name is. So everyone will have ample opportunity to fight him shortly. Given that the content is so new, it's only reasonable that people camp him, especially since the item he drops is one of the better looking pieces of equipment.

I would rather have open world dungeons where players played together than instances.

Complaining about an MMO being time consuming and requiring effort to get better gear...shocker... Maybe you should stick to console games. MMO's are time consumers, plain and simple. Even WoW, the most casual mmo in the world has some things that are time consuming.

This is why its called END GAME CONTENT. Even though the shit in XIV right now isnt much of end game, but thats sorta the point of end game content.

    SilvertearRen, I understand you.
I, too, am a casual-gamer and can't waste many hours on waiting for a particular spawn.
However, I find NMs roaming the world are quite nice to see too. I know many "hardcore' gamers like it that way too.
One good compromise would be to have both options available: one free roaming NM with a non-exclusive drop, one instanced-NM with an exclusive drop (much like Valkrum Emperor in FFXI who dropped Empress Hairpin/Emperor Hairpin depending on where you would fight it... except, reversed). That way, the on-demand NM prevent flooding of the market with the rare item, while the one that spawns in the wild can be a proud achievement for hardcore gamers.

The problem is, Final Fantasy has both casual and hardcore gamers, pleasing both of them is quite difficult.
But yes, they should go the extra mile to please both type of gamers with solutions like I stated above.

Oh! One more thing, shouting and saying profanities won't help any thread get more attention than it truly deserves.
    Have a nice day!

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
    (Marvelous economics IQ test!)
