The point of this post is to state simply this: As a person with a life, a family and college studies to worry about, I don't have a lot of time to burn on a video game.

So, sitting on a single NM for two hours, in the middle of competition against other parties...would have been better spent getting SP. But I wanted that armor. Two hours of time invested into the game to try to get it, feels like it has been a wasted investment, and therefore, degrades the value of FFXIV to me, a "high-end" casual gamer.

Time, to me, is precious. If a game makes me waste more than an hour for a single item drop, someone in the dev team *** up.

That is my perspective, and a good solution would have been to make all NMs instanced content so that parties can fight their way down through a dungeon or something, and then fight the boss - and get the item they're after as a reward.

Not a whole lot different from how .hack//G.U. does it - there's a chest at the end of every dungeon, there's probably a boss at the end of every other dungeon. Etc. Things like that.

This solution would have made things FAR more enjoyable, more tangible for the average casual player, as opposed to SITTING ON YOUR *** *** FOR TWO HOURS FOR NOTHING.

If this message does not reach Naoki Yoshida, then the chances of him adjusting his strategy for NM/instanced content is going to be slim, and the game will continue to be unfriendly to casuals who want to get a particular item.

Believe me, I know that this strategy would be a better course of action than the traditional FFXI approached "tweaked" to suit particular circumstances. That's not gonna work. No, no, no. It won't work at all! You're only going to drive off more casuals...

I spent two hours trying to get the armor drop from Kokoroon Quickfingers, and I only had ONE CLAIM. ONE CLAIM. WITH A PARTY OF FOUR.

We had promised to help each other get what we wanted from Kokoroon.

Yet two other parties are crowding into the spawn and managing to get the NM before any of us. AND THEY ARRIVED AN HOUR AFTER WE DID.

THIS IS PRECISELY WHY I AVOIDED NOTORIOUS MONSTERS IN FINAL FANTASY XI. THIS IS NOT CASUAL-FRIENDLY.

Make NMs instanced, please, for *** sake. One NM spawn per party. PROBLEM *** SOLVED.

Two hours of camping Kokoroon, and what do I have to show for it? NOTHING.

Thanks a lot, Naoki Yoshida! YOU SURE WERE THOUGHTFUL!

I'm going to bed. *** this ***. If I can't at least get the opportunity to claim the mob five times in an hour of camping, from a casual's perspective, it is NOT worth the time and effort to deal with the competition. Period. Non. Nein. Nyet. NO.
The fast spawn times makes it un-hardcore. Go try FFXI before the addon packs that's hardcore.

I rip the axe from the head Covered in blood and brains Leave the body lying dead Ready to strike again
My sword cuts through clothes and skin Like a hot knife cuts through snow I smile as the bastard screams When I twist my sword
Sword in my hand Axe on my side Valhalla awaits me Soon I will die Bear skin on my back Wolf jaw on my head Valhalla awaits me When I'm dead

    Viking Job Please!

Not all items should be casual player obtainable. There should be content geared toward the interests of every type of player, not just the casual play 30 minutes a day or less player.

I'm sorry, but he has a very fair point. The people that are willing to sit and spend hours, or in FFXI terms, DAYS, camping for a single item should have better gear than the casuals.

No, I think they deserve to get it sooner... Just like what happened last night. They worked for it hardcore-like.

It would be patently absurd to lock casuals out of any content in the game, period. That's akin to discrimination.

Does Square Enix wanna get dragged to civil court~? (That is a joke.)

So a casual player, who plays a couple times a week for 2-3 hours deserves an Adaberk before a hardcore player who end games every day? Get real.

It is not absurd. Give the casuals gear, but it certainly shouldn't be as good as the hardcore end game gear.

I believe it is they think they deserve to get it. The truth is random drops bow to no one.

I'm not sure MMO are for this person, they need to provide content for multiple audiences, and ffxiv has.

I complain about the trash items being full gear, but that doesn't keep me from selling my own. All mmo have that, to some degree.

Fact: "Hardcore" gamers will always have everything first.
Fact: NOT ALL casual gamers will get everything in the game.
Fact: MMOs are made to be long-lasting, time consuming games.
Fact: The arguements, and the topic of this thread, are moot, and don't mean shit. This game will be built like any other MMO. There will be content hardcore gamers will experience weeks in advance of casual gamers. Casual gamers will likely catch up come new expansions, etc. like is generally the case. Deal with it.

OP is a crybaby that doesn't like competition. Nuff said.

Healer strike is ridiculously foolish and accomplishes nothing
