    PS3 and fates..

Please fix this issue with the ENEMY not popping up sometimes at all because we are busy loading 40-50+ chocobos instead of what we actually want to see. Something has to be done or else we miss out on so much

Turn off battle effects by other people.
There are many options in system configuration to make
things you want load faster onscreen.
Install a 7200 rpm drive on PS3 too, helps things load faster onscreen.

Or an SSD drive, make things load fastest. 'Small' SSDs are pretty cheap these days, too. I got a 60g SSD for around $40-50 on Newegg.

That would be nice but the PS3 version does not allow us to change graphics settings at all, such as the battle effects by other people.

It does. There just aren't alot of options for it. There's three options for battle effects. One for your effects, one for party effects and one for other player effects with the selections being All, Some or None(ish). There's a couple more graphics settings options but I'm not logged in to see as I don't remember offhand.

Append: As to further illustrate, I have mine set to show all my battle effects, some of the party's effects and none(ish) of other players' effects. I still see the casting effects of mage classes but all other effects are gone unless it's from party members.

You are right! It's under Character Configuration > Control Settings > Character tab. Interesting place for this setting >.>

    Thanks for the tip!

You just missed the entire point of having an upgradable hard drive in the PS3. The option is there for you, I added an SSD and I'm glad I did. It not only benefits XIV, but every other game I install to the hard drive also loads faster and plays smoother.

And you miss the point of playing on a console. Sure it's an option but the game is optimized for the hardware that everybody else has, so you don't have to worry about that kind of stuff.

As for the topic of this thread, I have set everyone else's effects to low (or whatever the middle setting is named) and haven't had any problem with monsters not loading so far. Maybe it's the right answer! Personally I use wifi without issue, but in case of lag I bet that plugging in an ethernet cable instead could help.
