People forget FFXI had this.... it was set to Auto-Disconnect after 15 minutes by default... you could turn it off but most people didn't know how, so it kept the concurrent connections to the server manageable. Why would anyone be opposed to this?

As I recall it was first optional, and second customizable - not hard set to 15 minutes. That would be incredibly rediculous.
People are acting as if auto booting a small number of afkers would suddenly make it so they didn't have to wait in que to get in game. Check out the numbers of concurrent users that they've posted. They weren't ready for this. People log out and immediately their spot is taken, and people are still waiting.
The priority needs to be on making it possible to have MANY more concurrent users and fixing the duty finder so people aren't sitting around waiting on it. AFKing (literal) isn't as big an issue as some are making it.
I have characters on 4 different servers and haven't seen afkers in any large number... in fact I haven't seen any.
