You guys have to add this before your plans to increase server capacity. It's supposed to be what keeps people trying until the issue is fixed. Your statement implies that your plans may not even fix the issue. And if it doesn't, that's completely unacceptableGreetings, everyone.
I know that the topic of users idling for long periods of time has become quite the hot topic due to the current login limitations. I wanted to let you know that the development team is aware of the discussions going on by users.
Currently, the implementation of a feature that would automatically disconnect a user who is idle for a specific amount of time is something that will be investigated once the currently announced plans and adjustments have been completed. Once that is in place,we'll be able to see a clearer picture of the concurrency numbers and get a better understanding of what steps need to be taken next.
I know that this is a "we'll need to wait and see and investigate," but it's important that we let you know where we currently stand on the topic.
Thanks for commenting on the issue, but it doesn't help those of us who either haven't gotten to play at all (I have been fortunate enough to get some playing in) or stuck behind repeated 1017 for hours and hours on end. This needs action ASAP.Greetings, everyone.

Sorry, but that's pretty backwards. The whole reason we need an AFK booting function is to improve quality of life UNTIL you can get the server improvements up and running next week. Seriously, at this point you guys owe me about 2 days of early access and the first two days of launch. The game has been unfairly unplayable.
Seriously, look at my level on the left. I got to 20 in Phase 4. Since early access began, I have gained a whole 3 levels. That's how little I have been able to play. It's not an exaggeration that I am getting a bit cheated here by these 1017 lockouts.

So you're going to wait to do something that could help relieve a lot of pressure from the issue AFTER you've fixed the issue (which is going to take up to the beginning of next week)? Wouldn't it make more sense to kick idle players now to help relieve the anger of the people trying to play the game now instead of making them wait and then implementing the feature when it will be less of a problem due to the changes you're going to make? Well ok... guess I'll find something else to play for the next several days -.-who is idle for a specific amount of time is something that will be investigated once the currently announced plans and adjustments have been completed. They still haven't even mentioned the 1017 problem with login queues not working. Is it one of the "lesser" problems they keep talking about? Because it's the only bug I've been encountering and I've been seeing it since early access first started -.-
I always am amused by these threads...
The actual issue is a lack of hardware capable of handling the load... Sure, the people AFKing are the easy target since its person not the company. Lets yell at them and pass over the FACT that there isn't enough hardware provided for everyone to play. And the assertion that because people are AFKing means they must be horrible people in real life is more than mildly laughable. I can promise you this, when the necessary infrastructure is in place that can handle the needs of the community, the AFK "problem" will resolve itself.
Is it a jerk move to AFK? Sure, I'll give you that. But, is it the actual problem, the elephant in the room? No, it's a symptom of inadequate infrastructure, much like the rage associated with withdrawal symptoms of addicts being displayed by those who can't play.

No. This is a ridiculous knee-jerk reaction to one cause of the current server congestion. Take into consideration that the only reason people are doing this in the first place is because of server congestion. So how exactly is this supposed to fix the very thing that caused it in the first place?
People already can't buy the game, and if they have it, can't make new characters. Neither of those issues will be solved by this either. FFXI has been running how long now without this feature?
More servers, better servers, etc. No wasting time and engineering effort on temporary measures that only go a tiny bit toward solving a symptom of the real problem.
Solution: Everyone run out get Win 8, install Win 8. Log into game, have FFXIV:ARR and Win 8 duke it out. PC crash. It's a win win really :P Also for those who may ask; I'm a win 8 user who crashes while playing.
How can i get my money back? I really want my money back from this game, i enjoy the game, but not being able to log in for the last WEEK.......I want my fucking money back.
