ACN Ruin as a crossclass. Why?

I couldn't find any threads on this, and I asked in several zones yesterday in-game and no one gave an answer.

Maybe I'm missing something but I could not find any reason that Ruin is a crossclass ability for casters. As a CNJ my Stone spell is the same speed and has the added +Heavy. The cost is slightly lower with Ruin, but the damage is equally as low. And it's completely unnecessary with THM as well since they have control over their cost/damage.

Considering elemental advantages don't exist in this game, the "unaspected" element part is pointless, or it might've had an argument. To me it seems like it was build with elemental advantages in mind then scrapped the idea and forgot to change this (as far as crossclass goes)

I can't find a quote, but they said they had no intention to add elemental advantages in this game because it would cause favoritism for specific classes/jobs during dungeons/raids.

I love this game and don't mean to question their game design but it makes me wonder why they would make crossclass abilities that would be a "wasted slot" at all...Why not just make some jobs have less crossclass than others? If it's just to fill a crossclass option quota then it wasn't a very good choice.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to just wait and see the direction the game is going and maybe they'll have a use later (maybe in a patch they'll update the skills). Until then I'll just have a blast with every other aspect of the game!
