I guess I should feel bad that I've been logged in for over 48 hours now, but I don't. Took me over 3 hours to get my spot.

And you think this achieves something? They kick someone, and some lucky guy halfway across the world takes the lucky spot in seconds. And yes you should see when maintenance time is over, it wont even be 30 seconds and you'll end up in a 400 player waiting queue.
Also close your pron tabs so you can log in quicker.
Well the reason it hasn't is the player run Bazaars. which in XI was a significant portion of the games economy. The problem is XI could handle it's traffic, XIV can't.Ya. I don't understand why this hasn't been looked into. There have been areas I've gone into where there would be on average 100 people in the sanctuary gaining rest XP while AFK. I don't know if it's something that would be hard to implement being cross-platform or just a complete overlook. Regardless, that needs to get fixed. Yes, I used the word "fixed" because that is definitely an aspect of the game that's BROKE.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l-Queue-System <--- lets just try to get the abiliity to log in and play goin again

On one hand I don't blame people for not logging out. On the other hand people who paid for it deserve to play it not spend hours waiting. Wish they prepared for this. Capping doesn't help.
