I don't see why you guys are calling this endgame gear, but that is me. To me it appears like R25 -40 gear. Maybe I am confused though. Crafted gear still has merit at R50, there isn't much gear that comes from NM drops at that level range that I have seen post 1.17.

There are some peices that could be argued for even at 50. Yes the defensive stats are pitiful that far along but the +acc +attack +m.acc are pretty darned potent. If im not actively tanking or in serious danger of taking collateral damage, darn Skippy i would be rocking my darkshell mail. and heck the night hawk visor is serious competition for the skull eye patch and even the silver tri-corn.

though to be honest, as a player who grows his pile of gil via crafting and gathering. the only thing that worries me in the slightest is the "Consolation prizes" that come from them. the poor Goldsmiths are going to get there profit margins wrecked.

If your making profit crafting right now, then you are lucky. On my server I'm lucky to sell 3 crafted items a week due to competition. I rarely play DoW/DoM classes at all and NM drops aren't going to affect me in the slightest.

Seriously some people can never be satisfied... Stop whining and deal with it. It's not like this wasn't an obvious future addition.
I trust Square Enix will balance things out eventually so nobody becomes completely useless.

You should give the DoW and DoM some fun of their own, being completely dependant on crafters seems like a stupid idea.

"Monsters drop weapons and armor!? RAAAAAAAAGE."

I know, right? Who would want to play a game like that?

Not the hardcore players because they're too hardcore.

I don't see a problem with these NM's dropping this special new gear. If they dropped mats to make special gear instead, then they really couldn't have made them untradeable. And the fact that they are untradeable makes it so people (esp. higher ranked ones) won't just camp them to get things to sell. IMHO it is a good way to let everyone have a chance at these NM's and their gear. ^^

But I don't really get why they drop regular gear that can be crafted. I guess it is so even if you don't get the special item, you still get something nice, but surely they could have come up with a better consolation prize. My LS went out and killed a bunch of the new NM's last night and we got a load of random gear. Rings, bracelets, actons, cowls, footwear, jackets . . . that were mostly unwanted. So guess where all that gear is probably going to show up? The market wards.

Who knows. Maybe there would be an incentive to keep these gears, and an incentive to craft more. Like... Taking that Flametounge or Ice Brand and reforging them into awesome R45/50 weapons using your blacksmithing skills.

    I recommend that path.

Edit: expect anti-crafter complaints from that of course....

i believe people need multiple incentives to battle, obtaining armour through battling has been an MMO staple since the dawn of time, this game needed something for non crafters to fight for since we are the majority in any MMO, not crafters.
