Is It Possible To Preview Gear?

If SE decides not to implement a pre-purchase preview function (which imo is the best option), they must give us a second-best option. Let us return the item to the vendor within, say, 30-minutes for a full refund.

On a related note, I think the gear is silly-looking, especially those "burlap" bathrobes with hoods, and the cross-tied Ugg boots. Does the gear get nicer-looking at the higher levels? I sure hated to give up my starting set, <heavy sigh>.

I just want to know the difference what I equip vs what I am looking it and it will tell me if I have the better armor or not. That is the kind of preview I want.

Right now you can see if the gear a vendor sells offers a stat increase. Mouse-over the gear being offered for sale and you will see two boxes appear. The one on the right is what you are wearing at the time. Look at the numbers in parenthesis inside the right box. Green indicates an increase; a number shows you how much. Red indicates a decrease, with a number as well. No parenthesis means that the vendor's gear is equal to what you are currently wearing.

But! There is currently no way to know what that piece of gear looks like on your character before you buy it. That's not good.

Keep in mind that comparisons only compare to what you're currently wearing, not to different gearsets. For example, if you are wearing level 50 gear but are about to return to a level 15 class so go looking for low level gear, you'll see a very drastic stat reduction, even if the gear is better than your current gear for that class. Remember to always wear the gear you're looking for upgrades for to get an appropriate comparison.
