My posts are in no way related to the "new" NMs. I just do not understand the nerfing of the previously easy NM's.They drop gear around 25-35 and most aren't soloable by R50 people, let alone R35, I guess this is SE's attempt to give low ranks NMs for them to group for and fight, pretty good gear for their ranks.
Been seeing 4-6 man PTs fight Kokoroon (34-41) and winning so there you go, they get to have fun too.
And the drops aren't 100% but not rare enough to be ridiculous. (why make getting low rank gear near impossible anyhow)
I like em, any whiners should just stick to the good old NMs we have instead of complaining about these little ones.
I guess I can agree with the push back of the "date" because of new Dev team.See we have something in common. I also gave SE about a year to make the game playable (which was based on the fact that FFXI took about a year to be good ie. the NA release). The clock reset when the new dev. team came in. I thought it was unrealistic and somewhat unfair not to give them that benefit. I will likely give them longer than my own deadline of December 2011 though.
I don't agree with the exact adjustment numbers but I do understand what they were attempting to do. Yes they were easy under their old structure (even if you were short handing them but let's assume you weren't or else it makes it even messier). They made them easier from where they were at 15-man difficulties to adjust them to the same relative level of ease assuming the new 8-man structure. Did that work out? Not really. Needs fine tuning (up not down).
And as a secondary point made directly below by Arkine. The system is kind of in flux at the moment. They might just be the right difficulty post battle system overhaul (or maybe they'll be even easier). We simply don't know.

Once the battle system is re-hauled and established, new NMs and probably the current ones will be adjusted around it, I'm not worried, and these NMs are the equivalent of Lumberjack, Roc and Sim from FFXI, they really don't need to have Layton-like wits to figure out how to kill them, they're just there to keep us entertained and give us gear that will be obsolete in a year.
I support anything SE does that makes members of Perfection rage. GO SE!!!!
IMO, Instead of scaling anything they should have first let people kill it under the old difficulty and new "party" system. Then begin with scaling it if it even needed scaling.I don't agree with the exact adjustment numbers but I do understand what they were attempting to do. Thanks for the support, casual gamer.
Eh, it's clear the party buff is more of an in-general thing and not "making something easier", since in some MMOs, you get xp boost for full party/alliance, here? You get stat boosts that isn't even that big of a boost.
I agree with the wait, observe, adjust down as necessary approach (oddly enough that's exactly how the leve difficulty system is structured). Unfortunately they didn't copy their own leve system process.
i don't know why everyone is complaining but I guess it will never stop, yes it does feel like this patch was made for the casual gamer but this only a patch just a patch, you need to stop with these high expectations because FFXIV is a gradual development, which will one day be a great MMO. you expect Developers to cater to you and only you? i'm a hardcore gamer and when i saw respawn times i knew it was catered to Casuals.. Most of the gear Hardcore gamers wont need because you have 2-3 50 ranks.. and yeah i tried the NMs the drop rate sucks but whatever, I still love this Game and Yosi-P is doing a wonder Job.. do you expect a Complete Overhaul in one patch that will Change everything, so please stop Griping and be patient or play something else and if you choose to come back well welcome back and dont start griping again
The entire game is made for casual gamers, there are very few games around anymore that aren't made almost entirely for casual gamers. Hardcore players are not a very valuable playerbase at all anymore. The most profitable games are the ones that attract casuals, hardcore players use up the most resources for the same monthly fee, are the most demanding and are the first to leave if you don't offer them enough content. Casuals are far less demanding and there are far far more of them, it's also far easier to provide content for them cause they don't eat through it in 2 days. Any company that does not actively develop for casual gamers has no idea of how the MMO market is.yes it does feel like this patch was made for the casual gamer but this only a patch just a patch
Even the old hardcore MMOs are turning more and more casual, go take a look at how casual FFXI is now. You really think a brand new game is going to buck the trend? If you want a big playerbase you want players that actually have lives outside of the game, that play for a few hours a night and feel they can accomplish something. Making that larger paying playerbase feel a lower class to always on players is not a good business move.
