    I suffered from this issue on ps3 last month. Did all the suggested actions, including reinstall.

    The problem magically went away after play station network maintenance.

    Now we have a spike in version check errors and look, psn maintenance scheduled this week. Imagine that.

    I started having this same problem after the last update. If I keep reopening it enough times I eventually get to the proper launcher page, but it is damned annoying.

    Okay this is just been really stupid In have been waiting to play this game for weeks now and I still can't play I payed for this game of the 25th of last mouth and I still can't play this game I keep on getting the same error Unable to complete version check. [30410][30607][20457][409] and I have done everyhting I could to fix it but nothing but yesterday it work I was playing he game for like a hour or 2 went to bed for a little wake up turn on my computer and and than this 'Unable to complete version check. [30410][30607][20457][409]" I'm like WTF!! so idk what they're doing but they need to fix this man if not then I'm just going to give up on this game forever been playing this to close beta and was hoping to play this game but if they wont fix this little beg than I'm just going to give up on this game

    This error is actually a nightmare. I was getting this error a couple weeks ago and tried a few different things:

    1.) Ran everything as admin
    2.) Deleted the Boot Folder and dropped in known good files
    3.) Dropped UAC as low as it goes
    4.) Uninstalled/Reinstalled
    5.) Repaired Registry
    6.) Set Registry to ignore any kind of admin check
    7.) Set the files attributes to read only, Read/Write, back to Read only

    None of these changes actually worked. Now, this is where I start going off the map and start doing really STUPID stuff out of frustration:

    I thought that it could be a Windows 8.1 bug (which does have MASSIVE permissions bugs) so I attempt to roll back to win 7. Windows 8 doesn't like people doing this and actually tries to make it so convoluted people give up.

    After about an hour of messing with getting the boot disc to actually load up, I can't get the image to run as I don't have the CD/DVD drivers (though it's reading the image from the ODD). Tried basically every kind of basic driver chipset to no avail.

    It must be my BIOS.

    Long story short (about 70 solid man hours ripping the computer apart, trying different fixes, loading different images, and CMOS Resets) I have a motherboard on back order (hello bad flash) and the only way I got FFXIV to work was to buy a new rig.

    Hooray Version Check Error!

    It's not Square's fault I bricked my machine and I take full responsibility for my own hastiness. Hindsight being 20/20 it's pretty damn funny.

    So, if you're messing with the version check error and the thought "It must be my BIOS" comes into your mind in anyway shape or form, Stop. Please for the love of all that's good and holy don't do what I did.

    Getting same error, deleting the .fiin file did it for me - I got to open the launcher, tried to log in but said that game is under maintenance so I closed the launcher and now its back to "Unable to complete version check."

    I'm guessing it's because of tonight's maintenance but SE should let us know wtf is up so whatever happened to BIOS dude up there doesn't happen to anybody else.

    This happens 2 days before the end of my trial month.

    So this JUST started happening to me about a week ago. It seems so random that it's incredibly frustrating. NOTHING I do (Yes I've read this entire thread and tried EVERYTHING) works, yet if I just leave it and come back in a couple of hours it magically works.

    And then, occasionally I will get a different error when the launcher finally DOES load, something about a script error and force crashes the launcher, creating the version check bug again.

    WHY hasn't this been acknowledged by SE yet?

    The number of different ways people claim to have "fixed" this problem seems a pretty clear indication that its a major f*ck up on SE's part, yet they barely acknowledge there's a problem and certainly don't appear to be doing anything at all to fix it.
    Adding this on top of the various issues the game itself has (despite being "reborn"), and the insane amount of downtime (both the frequency of "maintenance" outages and the ridiculous length of each one), I'm finding it pretty hard to make a case for playing this over some other of the many other MMOs around these days. Sub renewal cancelled. I give em until this first paid month expires to get their sh*t together, but already looking for something else to fill my time (since while this issue persists I can't get in anyway).

    this is getting pretty old. i've been dealing with this issue off and on for over a month now. it started after the oct 10th patch. sometimes i can reboot and it works, sometimes it takes unchecking and then checking run as admin again, sometimes i have to boot straight from the folder, and sometimes i can just leave it alone and come back multiple hours later and it will work. i have no idea how a company this large can do such a horrible game of keeping their game running after the disaster of the first release. at times it feels like they are intentionally trying to tank the game with their lack of care shown towards their paying membes.

    I had this last Sunday evening and yesterday evening. Nothing worked last Sunday, but yesterday I tried connecting through a free VPN program and the version check worked, and I was able to log in.
    The program I used was HotSpot Shield.

    Fixes for this are very hit or miss for people, so just throwing this on the pile of things to try.
