i took off admin properties everytime i open launcher and just opened and closed it till it updated......
took about 4 times.
Maintenance or not, the patch file is live with some users able to download it and others running into this error message. A friend of mine was able to start the patch update, but I've constantly run into this error message leaving me unable to do so.
Kinda wish someone kept patch file archives up like they used to for FFXI giving people the option to work around this problem instead of waiting for a response from SE as to a resolution.
Tried system restore prior to 3/12/14 with no luck.
Tried resetting my router/modem with no luck.
Tried turning off firewall/antivirus protection...no luck.
Tried removing certain patch and config files to no avail (restores them then goes right back to this error).
Checked for compatibility issues as well as possible problems regarding "read only" and even tried running as admin....same error pops up.
Not sure what else to try at this point.
I've just started having this issue today on my laptop. Yesterday i was playing the game fine without any issues and i have also updated in the past with No issues what so ever. Now with this 2.2 patch I am having this issue and it saddens me that this issue is still not only persistent but affecting more and more users as the patches keep coming. These sort of error end up being the reason why many people stop playing great games such as this. So this is plea to any Dev, Moderator, or Technical Support individual employed with Square Enix to please get to the bottom of this and other errors such as this so that way we can go back to playing a great game that you have helped to create.
Gave me error. I pressed X and it proceeded to download update to launcher. Attempted login and it proceeded to download patch. Currently downloading. So it gave me error then continued as if there was no error lol
tried what you did as well and it just booted me back to the login page. This is actually starting to irritate me a lot.
I had this issue on the PS3. So i just switched it of and switched it back on works fine now and i'm downloading the update as we speak.
I just started a thread on the solution - if you can open your launcher but it is not updating, your launcher needs updating. I just took updated files from my computer that updated the launcher and downloaded the patch fine over to my other PC that would not update the launcher. It was stuck on January launcher version and gave me the error when I hit Play to download the patch. Both of these pc's run win7, wired on same network - the only difference is the one that ran fine was a much later install and the one that didn't work started from Beta - I am wondering if I should install a new retail copy of ffxiv. That, as far as I can see, is the only difference.
