Got mine working!

All previous options failed.

System Restored to last night.

Opened FFXIV, it updated twice, both under 2 Mb.
Logged in
Updated the 6.8mb patch
then I was able to play.

Tried everything written on here, still not working, keep getting "FFXIV has stopped working" error since the new damned update.
Can't believe the situation is getting worse instead of getting better

Unfortunately wasn't able to get it to work. This sadly reminds me of the Sim City launch. Having played MMOs for over 14 years I guess I have been through some bad launches and patches, but this seems like the range of issues from codes, to patching, to no que for full servers and on and on and on really doesn't speak well for a company that is on it's second effort to launch the same/revamped title. My wife really wants to play this and has been a final fantasy gamer since I met her, but this is truly turning her off to the series.

Are we going to have to keep doing this every time there is a new update? It would be nice if Square would fix this.

I was just talking my friend through this a minute ago. I told him to uninstall it then go find Microsoft .Net Framework 4 even if you already have it go redownload it and it should also give you a new file called Microsoft .Net Framework 4 extended. He did this and it started working finally. I hope this helps some people. In beta they were good about letting us know that we needed this. I don't know why it's not a link with the download as it is. Good luck.
