Try disabling any adblock program/addon your using.

Few days ago i decided to try adblock plus (addon for firefox). When i have it activated the ffxiv launcher is acting really weird. It takes ages to load the boxes in which you enter your login info and things like that.
Just today it gave me the error message this topic is about. Since the only change to my system revently was installing the adblock i turned it off and tadaaa: launcher works fine again.

    hope that helped

    cheers Ty

This is how i got mine to work.

    1. Go to Documents/My Games/Final Fantasy folder
    2. Move the FFXIV cfg file somewhere else like your desktop. Don't delete it or all your screen/sound settings will reset.
    3. You will get past the version check and before clicking play put the FFXIV cfg file back.

OK, I just got a new computer, and am trying to update a new install and I am getting the same error. Tried most of these methods and none of them worked. Please help, this is really annoying.

Changing from 0 to 1 worked for me to! Just be sure to close the FFXIV client before you launch the notepad and that you manually save it before closign the document then it should work.

Hi i had the same problem this morning : Unable to complete version check [30410][30607][20457][409]

This solved it for me, Thank you :
    Go to :
    C:\Users\''yourusername''\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn

    Open with blocknote :
    FFXIV_BOOT.cfg file

You will have these lines or something similar :
<FINAL FANTASY XIV Boot Config File>

    <Version>
    Version 2
    Language 1
    Region 2
    EulaAgreement 1
    StartupCompleted 1
    B4EulaAgreement 0
    BootVersionCheckMode 0
    ConfigReset 0

Modify and save it as follow :
<FINAL FANTASY XIV Boot Config File>

    <Version>
    Version 2
    Language 1
    Region 2
    EulaAgreement 1
    StartupCompleted 1
    B4EulaAgreement 1
    BootVersionCheckMode 1

    ConfigReset 0

Save the file, close any FFXIV application and try again. It should download the patch after you enter your password.

I found the problem, I just did "save" file instead of "save as" so it didn't work, Save as works, now downloading patch, thanks!

Thank you all... Editing the FFXIV_BOOT.cfg file worked for me too.

I remember having the same issue @ 2.1 and reinstalling the game.

SE really need to step up. Considering their Customer Service is non-existent, they should be proactive and post that kind of information directly in the launcher (in the Special Notices section).
