    Advice please.

Oaky,so I've been suffering from random shut downs while playing FF. So I finally got the balls to run an OCCT stress test on my PSU using my GPU, it failed within 70 seconds. So I thought hmmm try without the GPU.

So I went ahead and removed it and booted my PC up again and ran another stress test on my PSU.It ran the full 5 minutes without issue. So is it my GPU that is the problem? if you're aware about OCCT,if the PSU is bad/failing it will pretty much kill it so I've read.Or is it still a PSU problem?

What is the wattage on your PSU? What video card do you have? What else is in your machine?

    OCZ stealthXtreme2 700w PSU, GTX 460, 4 case fans ( lower power ) phenom ii x4 850, DVD drive, 8gb ram, and a 1TB HDD 7200

Edit: I've kept a close monitor on my voltages and they remain constant and are staying at optimal level, so while I can't truly rule out my PSU as a problem OCCT should have found it if it was.

Something is overheating. Check your temps.

That's the confusing part, nothing is. Gfx card is 58c under load, CPU tops out at 41c under load ( good cooling ) I do have some new parts on order, new cpu,new mobo, new RAM and a new GTX 670 so I guess time will tell if it IS my PSU.Just seems odd that OCCT failed in 70 seconds with the gfx card but completed the 5 minute stress test without it.

Go to bestbuy and get a new one and try it out. Why in the world would you buy all of that because you don't know the problem. If it happens with the new PSU, return it. If you want a new self built PC let me know and I can give you some advice with a budget.

    Edit:

With the budget I can help you build a computer you can max everything for atleast a year or 2 from parts on amazon cheaply.

I bought all that before I had FF 14 as I was upgrading anyway and never had an issue until I started playing this. I build computers myself, troubleshooting however is a nightmare for me as I get increasingly frustrated when the problem isn't an obvious 1 lmao!!

Lol ok. Yeah it could be anything causing it. If GPU and CPU are cooled under loads it could be the MB, memory, or the PSU. But I what got me thinking it wasn't the psu is if you a psu problem, you usually get a black screen or (something) because the gpu wasn't getting enough power. If it doesn't work out send me a PM and maybe I can help.

I'm off to buy a new PSU just to cover all bases, as i think that is now the problem after talking to my retailer where i purchased it from.Good news is it's still under warranty because it's not that old,so I'm going to RMA it and get a replacement.
