Yes that's what they claim is their record (https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net...c-590x3215.jpg). It's very possible FF ARR can surpass that when they fix the server issues. The real test is how they do 6 months from now.

All they did was dust off the 1.0 servers, what do you expect? lol
I'm quite surprised that they gave numbers only in the press release, but not in the message on the lodestone. You'd think this is the right time to tell people "hey, things are actually going well"
almost 200,000 connections at the same time is a ginormous number for a P2P game.
Not very likely, considering that 1.0 had a lot less servers and shipping servers from Japan to the US is almost as costly as buying new ones.
Too many players is a very good problem to have. I'd rather see the issues related to this than a broken game any day of the week.
I just found a really intersting thing about concurrent users to active users to "named users", aka accounts, ratio on IBM. Not sure if it really applies to MMOs, and I would certainly say that ratios are not completely correct for a launch, but it said the ratio is for every 1 concurrent user there are 10 active users and for every 10 active users there are 100 accounts. So it's 1:10:100 for concurrent:active:accounts. I would say that means there could conceivably be almost 2 million active users. Which is kinda insane to think about.
NOTE: As I said before I don't believe those ratios are completely correct for launch but I do think they could be correct for an average day for MMOs.
I like losta people. There's worse problems then too many people.
ehh since that looks more like an ad then factual numbers, those probably aren't accurate, most likely just marketing for GW2Yes that's what they claim is their record (https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net...c-590x3215.jpg). Oh gawd how I remember the hell of my first Beseiged event. Was all excited over it, joined some random party invite, spent some lead-up time perving on the tank's studly Elvaan profile, then cursed him/her out for doing ABSOLUTELY STUFF ALL when the fight started. He/she just stood there looking pretty for roughly 5+ minutes. Then all of a sudden he/she disappears & reappears about two blocks over and then I realised - it wasn't that he/she was doing jack shit - it was LAG!!"could handle", for a value that includes a vaguely functional AH, BCNM stuttering, the occasional zone-to-black disconnect, and Promathia-help-your-soul lag if you had to go near a social hub. I know I could tell when the number trended above 3,000.
Actually, that sounds a lot like what we're seeing in XIV...
Damn but Beseiged was maniacal.
Concurrent logins on a server is usually 15-20% of the servers total population. Although for this game, I'm sure that's much higher because right now with it being early, people are playing longer and the no AFK kick skews those numbers quite a bit too.
