This is interesting information, thanks for the heads up.

It confirms what was already suspected, ie SE taken by surprise by the runaway success and are now very busy scrambling to make the infrastructure meet the demands. It can be argued that SE should have prepared for this contingency, but that is water under the bridges now.

Next week new server infrastructure will be added, and things will hopefully be better. Maybe they can offer us a "I survived 1017" t-shirt.

That's great news - I haven't seen a MMORPG increase the number of people logging in after release day since the launch of vanilla WoW. I think it just goes to show that word of mouth is bringing in new players who were reluctant after the debacle of 1.0

I certainly recall around '06, '07, '08 maybe, seeing Phoenix up over 3000 in '/sea all'.

Same. Ifrit around the same time frame was about 2.7k in EU prime. I imagine that would have jumped up to about 3k in NA prime.

FFXI in its prime had around 18? servers, with around 3500-4500 people online at the same time and they're peak subs were at 500k, it's possible this game has more than 1million accounts already.
