IIRC there will be mod/addon support roughly 6 months into launch, why couldn't it be sooner!
Addons generally help take out the issues people get annoyed with.
Whos looking forward to addons?

Yeah it'll be pretty cool!
Personally, Im looking forward to seeing some nice looking UI mods. The game already looks nice, but hey, some FF themed ability bars would be really cool!
Perhaps a cast bar animation that looks like the ATB system in 13?
And I know some people don't like the idea, but a damage meter will be cool. Personally, I just like to use it to see how well I'm playing a class, and how I can be more efficient.
Cosmetic changes could be a lot of fun, I can see people wanting their bars and such to even appear retro like 4-7 style bars and such.
Things I'll try to make/get when add-on API is released:
- A stamina/atb bar so I don't have to look to the hotbar to know when my skills are up.
- An addon so the hotbrs I desire hide when not used for a certain amount of time, just like the 1.0 hotbar.
- Inventory list like in 1.0/XI.
- A function to maximice/minmze the chat window like in XI.
I'm pretty sure these will be made by people hat have more experience than I do with making add-ons, but I'll try none the less.
I wanna change the font colours on the mobs npc's and characters.. they are to bright man to bright.. When in big fights (FATE) all u c is shiny letters everywhere :P
There is already functionality to change the colors of any nameplate in the game. Even so far as to change them based on whether they are in party out of party, tagged monsters, monsters you have claimed, unclaimed etc.
Cosmetic stuff would be ok. Hopefully nothing that interfere's with gameplay though. WoW-like add'ons that play the game for you should be avoided like the plague.
Can you show me any add-on that plays the game for you in wow that is still there because most of them were banned out right from blizzard if they did too much
Except they don't. At best they offer alerts saying "Hey this ablity procced, click it!" or "The boss is chargeing this ablityl do something!"
This really, WoW has made me dread addons in any mmo. Worst ones are the dps meters where people spam results in even trivial dungeons, and ones like the original healbot, where you could literally raid with one or two buttons. Put someone on follow, hit the macro key, and it would target and choose the right heal. WoW nipped it in the but after a while, but i was there then and it worked better than some healers.
What i would like though is a sort button for my inventory, something to tell me what crafting mats are useful for what (especially fish), and something that helps me remember which parts of what zones are what levels. The way the zones are set up gets so confusing to me at times.
Like i said, Healbot used to, among others, before BC, but i forget exactly when it was. Along with decursive (spam it to remove any curses, you didn't even have to watch the screen to do it), addons that allowed it to chose your target and select the skill were basically banned by changing how addons could work. They didn't so much ban them as change the code to not allow it. I forget the exact patch that did this, and my google fu is bad today, but it wasn't quite botting, but just by a sliver.
