Main Scenario [Spoilers?]

I'm not even sure how to put this into words, and I certainly don't want to spoil anything for anyone. So the best I can probably do is:

Wow. Very well done and well played on the final boss and ending. I got that true Final Fantasy feeling as if I were fighting Ultemicia or Jecht.

Also, phenomenal final scene. I'm looking forward to the first expansion.

Err....to give you an answer, I'd have to break it down into stages and I think that'd reveal too much. The last instance takes like...an hour and has about five or six boss encounters. xD

the last boss... in the dungeon... is actually a series of 3 bosses... ultimate weapon... then another dragon... followed by a surprise

I still need to finish the final instance. But DAMN! The entire storyline was just... I jizzed way too much. The story built up was great and had a very FF vibe during everything. The 8-man battles + instances were so MUCH fun. Using cannons to destroy things. Sneak behind guards to disable the alarms. It was just mindblowing and I never had so much fun. I'm looking forward to the final instance, battle and cutscenes.

A big thank you to Yoshi-P and the entire team for creating such an awesome experience.

Fun fact. Someone on the beta forums accidentally guessed the identity of the masked man. By overlaying someone's face over the masked man lol. I had to stiffle a laugh when he was unveiled.

the first 400 quests were bullshit... Stupid busy quests... no originality in the story. A cheap patchwork quilt made of all the things they think people loved about previous final Fantasy games. But instead of being a nostalgic homage, it felt like a cheap imitation, made purely to conjure up those feelings of old school games. It was like someone ate Final Fantasy I, III, IV, VI, VII, X, XI, XII and this turd of a story popped out.

But then you fight Garuda and from this point on it all gets better and actually becomes a Final Fantasy Story on it's own merit. It starts to show some uniqueness... some character... even the voice acting starts to bother you less. Much like Final Fantasy Twelve, The Story underneath, if handled better, could have been one of the better FF stories. Instead it will be appreciated for big cutescenes and not much else. It's as if Michael Bay directed it
Will new players stick around long enough to see this? Who knows...

I agree, if you spam the whole story line with a level 50 job/class the quests from lil ifrit to lil garuda really are boring. On the other hand, from a new player perspective or if you're doing the main scenario on a class/job that can get exp, the amount of exp you get from the quests of the main scenario storyline is golden.

Aside from the exp, the quests really give you a sense of the world. Gridania, Ul'dah and Limsa didn't make it through the Calamity unscathed, and it shows. Pre-Ifrit the game is basically telling you that these are not the best of times with a national flavor depending on which city state you chose to start in. You also (rightfully) start out as a nobody with potential to become a hero of the realm.
