For now the targeting just selects enemies from left to right in your view. that's a pretty provisional solution.
Selecting from nearest to furthest in your view (and spell range optionally) would be probably better.

TAB-targeting is currently broken, if you ask me. By default TAB is supposed to cycle through mobs from nearest to farthest. That rarely happens. Sometimes it'll start with the closest mob, and the next press will switch to a mob halfway across the map. Or behind me. I've taken to using TAB to select the closest mob (F11 by default). Then I use my middle mouse button to cycle. It still jumps around, but at least I'm starting with the closest mob now.

Yep, the tab targetting in this game is useless.
