Try using the duty finder as a DPS compared to a healer. I don't think there are as many as 40% healers out there. But honestly I don't think the game could hold my interest for 10 years playing only one class. Over time I will probably play several, if not all classes. It just depends on what I'm in the mood for.

Definitely not 40% healers. In the lvl 15-20 3 dungeon set the dps said they had a 45 min queue, tank had 3-4 mins, and I got in instantly as healer.

QFT - My CNJ and my ACN (Main) are within one level of each other.. I use my CNJ for the dungeon instaqueues and then FATE & Quest grind on my ACN.

I would consider a comparison between the number of healers and the number of female FF XIV players - and I'm pretty sure both are higher than in Your regular MMO
I know it's just a cliché (which was proven wrong by more than one of the ladies in my Guild on another game), but most of the women I met so far either played healer or tank - which makes sense to me because I like to consider both as supporting classes. They do their jobs so the DDs can go and kill stuff.

If I am correct about this, then I surely don't mind having more healers around

I've not seeing many healers post 30 anymore, considering duty finder queues are practically instant still I'm guessing that most people are just leveling up healers to use them for cross class skills.

I'm still low level, but when I que, it is instant for my healer.. Takes forever on my other toons. I've also been main heals in every game I've played. A lot of people will roll healers first because they don't want to group until they learn the game. Then they find out that being a group healer is not always fun. Specially when you pug everything. So I think the number of active healers will die down and be replaced with too many support and dps classes. As with most games, there will be a shortage of tanks and healers after everyone settles in.

No, now that the SCH is a healer option, people no longer have to "commit" to the Conj>WHM path. You can now solo well, and then unlock a healer and dps job from the same class. You can heal just as well as the limited healer (WHM), without any of the drawbacks (being pretty much ONLY a healer).

They have removed the barriers to making a healer. I'm not sure that is a bad thing for the game. I definitely think it makes the WHM class obsolete.

They may have removed the 'barriers' to making a healer, but that doesn't mean they removed the barriers to playing a healer well. That's like saying PLD is obsolete because WAR has the ability to generate enmity via an AoE and also the ability to regen HP.

It has nothing to do with the playability. It has to do with the opportunity costs of creating and playing a healer. Those costs are drastically reduced and almost eliminated by adding a job that branches to effective solo/dps roles.
