    2) Log into Mog Station/SE Account Management and attempt to add crysta with it.
*(99% chance of it giving you an error and rejecting the card - this is just to make a paper trail to be followed)*

    3) Contact the VISA operator @ (650) 432-3200, ask for PlaySpan (read: Ultimate Pay)

    4) Tell the following rep you attempted but failed at adding Crysta. They will ask you for the PIN of the card and for the email that your game is tied to. When they look it up, they will see your prior attempt - makes it fast and easy for them.

    5) Confirm that you want your game card placed onto your FFXIV account.
*(Within 10 minutes, you'll have an email letting you know you've had Crysta added.)*

    6) Log into your Square Enix Account Management page, click on "Crysta Passbook", and you'll see the 2,000 crysta added.

    7) Continue to Mog Station, and go through the payment process again, this time using the Crysta that is now on your account.

As I said, this is a pain in the butt and roundabout way of doing it (Hopefully you're lucky and can get a digital card from Walmart.com or Gamestop.com), but it will (and has in my case) gotten me back online and playing. In the mean time... SE, get off yer @$$es and fix your payment system!

Good luck to all, hope to see you in the game!

Yesterday had the errors with my dutch creditcard and german creditcard wich i used here in Germany.
Somehow i can't change the country i live in and it is still standing on the Netherlands.
So i let my bro pay for me in the Netherlands, and worked!
So maybe some people have the same isue, might be it.

    Quoted for truth.

Been locked out for 2 days. I'm Canadian Credit Card with NA account, but living in Shanghai currently so i guess that why i was blocked. I had to find an online retailer who would sell me a digital ultimate gamer card. (Thanks OneCard.net!).

Then i would enter the code, in FFXIV system, it would even show as $20 USD click confirm and STILL rejected (i guess cause my account was blocked from so many attempts). So I just called the PlaySpan number above from one of the steps.. waited 5 mins and the rep manually flushed my card balance into my FFXIV account.

He also said "Oh yeah, we've had a huge call volume increase since yesterday, FFXIV is having tons of issues with this".

Anyway, I'm back in and hope this helps someone else out.

This has worked and I am now playing with my sweet Ahriman mount. It may take you several minutes to reach a represenative but, she/he will be more than helpful to you. I had a wonderful lady add my Crysta to my account. Just make sure to reference the FFXIV Crysta problem and then go on about how your prepaid cards are not working, it seemed the lady knew exactly what I was talking about. I am reposting this in high hopes that many of you do this. This process takes around 15 minutes to do and its a lot better than waiting for 48 hours for Square to release some news on it, only in the end, to not get a single detail about the problem.

It's a shame though, I had to go through a thirdparty to get my Crysta. Good luck my friends.

This worked for me. took about 5 mins on the phone with the visa operator waiting to transfer then another 5 mins with the ultimatepay rep. On a side note if you can not find the card at a store near you go to walmart.com and buy a digital copy of the card and they will email you the pin number for the card

I posted in Timberwolf's thread already, but I wanted to post this here as well.

So, everyone trying to buy the $77.94 amount, was being declined for their own safety since it is a new account without a transaction history.

You are being locked out entirely after too many failed attempts (which is also what displays in the 601 error message.)

She basically went in and manually added the funds from the Ultimate Pay Game card since my account was locked out entirely and restricted from too many failed attempts!

This is not Square-Enix trying to piss you off, it is simply due to a safety precaution (and possibly a little too much oversight, since they should have known people would try to purchase 180 days out the door!)

I hope this makes everyone a little less grumpy and a little more able to play!

Purchase your Ultimate Game Card from their website, or from Walmart's website (as OP says in first post) and follow OP's instructions in getting declined once, and calling the number. You will be able to play! I promise!

Error 601. Tried three different cards, as well as PayPal. I submitted two tickets and tried the chat, unsuccessful. I can't log into the game without subscription renewal, so I give up honestly. Also, I was lead to believe that I would receiving 30 free days of game time but I have only played for 2 weeks? Very disappointed with how all this is being handled. Way too many errors and very poor customer service.
