Yes it is possible. In order to enter any of the quest related instances (chimera and hydra) at least one person must be on that step. Otherwise, there are no requirements on entering the instance to help people.
Just another quick note about the scholar one. The beastmen in the first post are correct, ignore the quest tracker.
Has anyone who has gotten their relic who turned in an HQ compared the stats versus a NQ turn in? Since other aspects of the game give bonuses for HQ would be nice to confirm this does/does not.
Thanks for the response Magnesium, I'll just meld myself an HQ Scimitar to use and when I hit that point, try to turn it in. I'll post my findings. Worst case scenario I have to go back and synth an NQ, (the horror.)
I am 100% that turning in the HQ weapon (if possible) does not yield an enhanced version of the relic, for 2 reasons. There's no HQ in the dats other than the upgraded version, and it's absurdly easy to HQ the required item, if it were possible it would be pointless to ever turn in the NQ weapon. The rest of the quest is much more difficult than obtaining either an HQ or NQ version of this weapon.

Hey everyone. I have added the relic +1 section as well as a huge FAQ at the bottom. I think it now covers most thing that people want to know. My 'simple' guide has turned into a monster!
I helped some friends through Ifrit and Garuda. Garuda is really fun once you get the wind patterns down. We tried Titan a few times too and well .... my ping to servers is around 470 - 530 so trying to dodge was uh .... challenging. But it is also fun in a manic kind of way.
Big thank you for confirming. It's been a popular question.

Does anyone know, if you abandon your quest for Relic Reborn, but you've already handed in your Materia Melded item, do you get it back? Or do you need to go to talk to him to switch it? Or do you just lose it?
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have gil. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my fellow Eorzeans time shift to safety, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you." - Crisp Neeson to Bahamut, moments before the end of the Seventh Umbral Era, Nov. 11, 2012
... and that children, is how the people of this land are still alive and safe today.
No you lose it for good. You won't get it back. If you start the quest again for the same weapon you will start form scratch.
Also
Can anyone up the the bugged weapons or the bugged monster kills stages confirm that they have been fixed? The following issues have been addressed:
-In some instances, the specified items to collect were incorrect in the “A Relic Reborn” quest.
-In some instances, the specified enemies to defeat were incorrect in the “A Relic Reborn” quest.
Hey, Magnesium02. Can you make a guide on how to obtain AF+1?
So, i took the Artemis Bow quest that says to go to Natalan... i went there (in the area showed on map) and searched everywhere for this chest with the bow but couldn't find it anywhere. Is it the bug that they says in the known issues or do i have to search better (maybe someone can take a screen of the exact location?!) ?
